All my Whips have the short strut.

+1 on that and the flat bottom creates lift which is very nice too.

Maybe i could tell you if i had an identical whiplash with rudder mounted on left. Otherwise boat works pretty good and turns left or right without flipping.

I thought that was what you were referring to in your last post. I re-read it and realized what you meant. Woops!

In the first picture, isn't the strut fitted into the bracket the wrong way around? Surely the tapered end should be facing forward in relation to the mounting bracket.

Paul, I think the photo shows how to mount the strut inside the boat, through the bottom. The brackets are mounted to the inside face of the transom. So yes, it is backwards to how we mount them on the outside.

Jimmy - I am one of the fools that has the rudder on the right. Here is how I thought of it......(photo below). At 40+mph, seems as if you'd want the drag to help you steer to the right.

However, Mike's boat clearly out turns most of our boats, and his rudder is on the LEFT! A lot more variables in the works than just rudder placement I think.

My PT turns pretty tight. No where near as fast as you guys though. Especially with the baked potato motor in there.

I know many have praised OSE service but honestly, Steve is the best. I ordered a couple motors and miscellaneous doodads. I got the "you're package has shipped" notice in under an hour. Now that's service! Thanks Steven. I have two boats to put back together for next weekend and need the pieces n parts.

I stole the turn fin bracket off the boat to put on another build so I have to reinvent that before the weekend. Plus solder up a new motor. Ugh

It's close but I still don't think it's very fast. Looks cool at speed.
