Can i please get some help with a recreational FE tunnel build setup ideas? I will be using a aquacraft top speed 3 hull and hyper performance bullet drive. Would like speeds in 30's mph for rec use. Need motor, speed controller, battery , and prop setup recommendations please. Any and all help would be appropriated. This will be my first build and very excited to get out and have some fun. Thanks again for any help and guidance.

For speeds in the upper 30's go with a ul-1 motor/ esc with an octura x440 prop. -

No problem. Really, any of the spec motors will work well. Aquacraft or Proboat. The ul-1 will likely be the fastest, depending on prop. But wanting to bein the mid 30s range any of those motors will be suitable with smallish props.Comment

If mid 30's all your looking for I would be more apt to suggest the Aquacraft 1800Kv (Motley Crew or Revolt) motor and Aquacraft 60amp Controller. That set up should keep amp draw way down and it will be very easy on batteries. However, there is nothing wrong with Rumdog's suggestion either.
You will want to run either of these systems on 4S.

Im just working on the same hull. Its nearly ready. Mine will be 6s. You might also want to take a look at HK. They have a lot of suitable motors for very reasonable prices. There are a few build threads on here for the TS. Use the search and have a look at what others did.Comment

Yes I will take some pics for you. The part that I find tricky is the steering. The radio box has to be very narrow so you cant get a ton of travel (at least not compared to my bigger boats) It is obviously adaquate for the normal set ups but i am using a 7.5 size lower unit. it should be fine but I would have preffered a bit more.Comment

Here is how it looks. Yours would be different though. Im using a 7.5 unit which is quite a bit heavier than a 3.5. My batteries go in the very front of the box. Yours would likely be farther back. I used 1/4 balsa under the box to strengthen the tunnel floor and used auto gasket maker to glue the box in. its very strong and if for some reason i ever need to get the box out i can. Also used 1/8 CF to re enforce the transom.Comment

Ya it looks ok other than a bit of mess from the gasket material. It took me three tries to get it right though. I am recovering from a knee replacement and was trying to work on it while under the influance of heavy narcotics...lol Not the best idea. I got it done though. I will also blue print the bottom and paint with a textured paint but that will be a bit later. Whatever direction you go I would recommened that you cut away the center section the way i have done and then re enforce the tunnel floor. Its a bit more work but it gets your batteries as low as possible in the hull.Comment

Boat looks good ! I am working on a TS3 as well........... I have a couple of ?'s Lipos can they get wet ? will it hurt them? and ESC I have a 120amp turnigy aquastar states it is water proof. I see i should of built a long box this is my set up Dont laugh.

Dave I would think twice about running your boat like that. At best ESC's are "water resistant" and it's not a good idea to submerge lipos often, and on a tunnel they will get wet....often.
