    Dumas Deep Vee

    hey all,

just started to build a new boat, Dumas Deep Vee 20 is is 24'' long and has a fairly large from what it appears wetted surface area, and it has in the plans to build it as a subsurface drive. Would this be a fast option (if so what prop motor setup would suit) or would a stinger adjustable strut and setup as a surface piercing drive be faster and be suitable?

    all feedback welcome

The surface drive would be faster. Run a SV-27 set up and it should be very entertaining!

Basically you can by all the hardware components on this website that belong to the Aquacraft SV-27. Your boat is similar in size so it should be a good fit. Here are some links to get you started.

Stick with a single drive, twins have different problems and setup headaches.

it depends on your weight and how much power you put on it. I want to say if you get the right prop close to 25 or more.

before your idea i was also thinking 8xl KB-45 motor, would this be too big, and would it be similar to the superv motors output?

SV's using the basic setups ,on 14.4Volts run in the mid 30s. Put 4S LiPos in it and hang on !

mid 30's mmmm closer, so if i whack a 4s lipo on it, there is no durability or reliability issues?

Yup, Qty 2, 7.4V LiPos in series. keep in mind that at 35+ Mph in a small Vee hull is moving and can be "interesting" to control sometimes. I ran these setups in numerous boats on 4S LiPo's and have to say, that motor and speed control combo is one tough, almost bullit proof system. You are not dreaming, 40 is achiveable, but small boats like this can be a handful unless the conditions are smooth as glass.

One more thing, the speedcontroller does not have a LiPo low voltage cuttoff so you have to be careful not to drain the batteries to far.
