I picked this up awhile back from a package deal and I believe it is a oval master? It has .150 flex shaft with 3/16 prop shaft. Plastic Prop says 48 on it. I know She needs some TLC & was thinking about 1700 kv sv27 blue motor and 45amp aquacraft esc on 4s 2 2s packs? Also would it help too put a thin layer of fiberglass on bottom inside hull to stiffin it up a bit since stuffing tube has bin riped out anyway? is the hardwear correct for the hull?
Is this a BBY oval master?

arnie just pm Randy at BBY. he could tell you for sure. One thing i know of is the bottom is totally different and the ovalmaster is smaller. But that phantom would be a fast hull.Tommy Levescy sponsored by: RCJuice.com, Rawspeed, Scorpion Precision Performance, TC Racing, Triton RC, Oxidean Marine and Cencal Hobbies.

The OvalMaster came in three sizes, 21", 26" and 29". The Phantom is 24" long. The hardware on the OP's boat is of better quality than the photos. The boat would be great for 2S power, or Limited 4S. Too much power though and it won't stay on the water. One thing i know of is the bottom is totally different and the ovalmaster is smaller.

Jay does know my boats on this one.
It is a Phantom 8 a great little boat. It was designed for 8 cells NiMH. It will work great on 2S and a RC Car motor or a little bigger motor and larger three blade prop.

17.5 is a sensored offroad motor range from 1900kv too 2200kv some have less kv more torque and some higher rpm less torque but it all equals out with gearing and boost/timming in offroad in the end. They r 36mm by 52mm long. Problem is most have fins or slots for cooling so not sure on watercooling type too use maybe coils like traxxas blast and u would need a sensored waterproff esc and the tekin rs is not waterproof. When u add timing/boost or turbo like the Tekin has it really adds tons of top endAttached Files

The ul1 2030 motor is popular for boats due too haveing 6 poles which adds torque. The tekin is a 2 pole motor. higher pole motors would cause too much wheel spin for offroad. Im stilling learing myself, but I have bin racing & tunning offroad motors since the brushed motor days.
