Strut/stuffing tube question

I am installing a 1/4 stuffing tube with Teflon liner and a octura strut on a mono 1. Should I cut the tube off at the transom and run Teflon tube up to strut or run the brass tube to back of strut. The brass tube or the Teflon tube does not fit inside strut.

what size flex shaft are you planning on running? I am assuming that your going to run .150 flex. What brand of strut did you buy and where? That will help determine the proper set up. Pictures are always helpful too.
