Dumas Scarab 55 - How to make it go on a budget...

I actually have a couple 4S batteries for my RC8BE V4, and couple 2S for my SCTE, so batteries should be taken care of...luckily!
I do like the thought of gas, but it does seem to be a good option.

Hey! I'm not a stranger to Hobbyking, nanotechs have treated me VERY well. I am worried about drive system on top of that cost too I guess....
I know that probably sounds whiny, and I know it takes money. Would the Vanquish drive line be suitable for a boat this size?

I hear ya man, and I do have some big bucks race vehicles, although this monster is for leisure and handling Lake Ozarks crazy chop waters without worry...

It is expensive when you want real good stuff and alot of speed. The motor in my 47" mono is a 2028($350) and the speedo a SF240hv($275), then batts and so forth, but i also get 70 out of it.

$227 total. I run a real inexpensive setup in my 60" Dumas and it goes 40+ mph.

I think gas would be cheaper, you can get a brand new zenoah 260 for $225 from gizmo, it should push that hull past 30 mph. Electric for that size is going to be lots of money$$$. Plus batteries will kill you.

I have come across a cheap Dumas Hull 55". I am not new to rc, or boats, just nothing this gigantic. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to go gas (not nitro) route, or brushless? I know a pretty good deal about how brushless rc boats are built, but like I said, nothing this large. I would like to go electric, but also don't want to break the bank. Not looking to break any records here, just want something suitable (25-30 mph). Any help will be appreciated.
