Way too Hot even before running

Hey guys any help for this ? I burnt out the speed controller on a Used Apparition that I bought. I bought a new 180A Turnigy and it gets hot as well as the motor while taping the hatch down. When iget to the water and toss in the Heat cutoff wont let it run. Is there a way to test things? When I bring back to the table and remove hatch I cannot touch the Motor or Sc because they are so Hot !! Thanks Mike

Does the motor run when you first conn everthing, if its getting hot when your not running it there must be a short drawing the power to make stuff hot.

ESC burning out can take the motor with it, which in turn can take out the new ESC. Check your motor for shorts ilke LOVE6S stated.

I would disc conn the motor, hook everything else up and see what happens and the plug in motor and see if stuff gets hot, but be carefull you dont reck you esc.

Do not hook up the ESC without it connected to a motor. Try a different motor to see if that is the problem. Are you using an external BEC or receiver pack?

Thanks for all the info, yes after the beeps I can goose the motor and it sounds fast, but within 5-6 minutes I believe its cutting off for high temp. What if I don't have another motor?

Will a Brushless motor with two wire work? I have a Hammer with a brushless motor in it

Measure the resistance across the motor wires using a DVM, the readings all should be the same, this will tell you is you have a short somewhere in the windings.
If the motor heated up when the last esc went it could have de magnetized the motor or shorted out.
5-6 minutes on those batteries in the picture could very well be the lvc cutting in but that wouldn't heat it up on the bench,
You need to change out those deans connectors on your battery packs, they will not handle that much current. Step up to some bullet connectors.
A new motor wouldn't hurt, those ones aren't the best quality by a long shot, not very efficient motors.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Not knowing what motor , prop , or hull your using makes it very differcult to make any good gusses as to what your problem really is . It really sounds like you have a problem with the motor . You can also try eliminating the BEC circut in the t180 by disconnecting the red wire from the plug that goes to the reciever and then hooking up a reciever batt. pack . You cannot use any two wire motors as they are brushed not brushlesws motors . I would by a cheap multy meter from harber freight and do as siberianhusky suggested , it will tell you if your motor is garbage .
