vater and lipo batteries

can lipo batteries handle beeing under water ( fresh water) and if yes do i only dry them ?
my drifter S thought it was a plane for a wile until it landed and the hatch opend flooding the boat.

Yes, at least the quality packs with good copper tabs can. I have dunked several of my packs and they are fine.....

...BUT you need to peel off the shrink and make certain that they are dry inside. Make a small cut in one end of the shrink and carefully peel off all the shrink, being careful not to be too rough with the cells or to puncture them. If you can, blow out the ends with compressed air (or your mouth) and leave them someplace warm to dry like a sunny bench in summer or use a hair dryer in cooler weather.

To reassemble use regular pack shrink - Steven sells some here but you will have to match the size of your packs. The ends of the packs do not need to be sealed, even packs that are supposed to be waterproof can still take on a few drops of water - and if the water is left inside, the tabs can easily corrode, increasing the pack resistance and risking melting the pack. I find it much better to just peel off the shrink if I even suspect water got inside. Don't worry, if you are careful you will do no damage, but water left sealed inside the pack can destroy the cells. Quality LiPos are not cheap, spend the extra few minutes to take care of them after a dunking.
