Upgrading Pursuit flex

I want to do away with the 2 part flex in my pursuit but will this fit the stuffing tube as I don't want to start ripping the existing one out. Thanks

If youre replacing the strut, the stuffing tube will be easy. Just go for it, man.

The problem is I've epoxied it all in to seal the leaks when I got the hull.

If you heat the epoxy with a heat gun, or hair dryer, it will loosen right up, then you can remove the tube.

I will give it a bash then. That kit looks like a good upgrade cos the stinger is the same as the stock one.

I find it better using a soldering iron warming the tube as it localizes the heat to just the epoxy area.

Why are you changing the stinger as well as the shaft & stuffing tube just get the .187 flex & stub, Prestwich sells this flex separatally along with Model Marine Supplies also in the UK. Model Marine shafts are Octura.

The Prestwich models one is HF35 listed under flexshafts, this is a 3/16" stub with a .187" flex brazed together. Also speak to Tony at Model Marine Supplies, the last one of this size i got from him was a Speedmaster. Very good quality & well put to gether, the Speed master ones use a longer stub so is better to go between the 2 bushings & still have a decent amount to get the dog, prop & nut on. Some flexes can be a bit short on stub length. To give you an idea go into OSE store & they have these very shafts specifically for the Pursuit, the ones Tony has are around 21" long so just need cutting to length.

Forgive me for being a bit stupid but I really struggle with the flex sizes bushing etc. are these a direct replacement for the 2 part flex as I thought it would be like the genesis and either need a new strut/stinger or have the old bushing drilled out to fit the one piece flex.

Dosnt the Genesis use a smaller flex either a .150" or 4mm & a small stub, the Pursuit should come with a .187" square end flex with a 3/16" stub or at least the one i had did so it was just a case of fitting the new 1 piece .187" x 3/16" shaft.

Yea the genesis shaft is smaller. I will give model marine supplys a ring. I need to order a prop anyway

Tony at Model Marine Supplys is a good guy to deal with, the flexes come long so you need to cut them to length. Re props you can get stock Octuras or he will sharpen & balance as well for a bit extra if you dont do them yourself.

I always use him for props. Fast service and he seems to be one of the cheapest.
