When, in your vid did you check temps?
Looks like 3 minutes of a lot of on/off throttle running and no temp check.
Thats about all the run time you had at only 4000mah. How far were the packs drained?

Also, what prop were you using? On Hobbyking it says they come with "36-74Size 2075kv Watercooled Brushless Inrunner" so I hope you were only running 4S????

For warranty, if you log into your account then click on support at the very top, scroll down under "returns and refunds" and click on "Warranty Support Page" in "ORDER ID" you should be able to select your ESC order number and then check the ESC. It will give you an RMA number and shipping label which should be in the USA. Last time I had a warranty item it took about 2 weeks and they credited back my account.

What you dont realize is almost all of these cheap boats from China are not setup the best. You just cant take the boat out of the box, toss the equipment in and go run. Most electrics in them are not adequate as already mentioned. Also many times there are screws not properly tightened, things not sealed properly, shafts not greased good enough, etc., etc...

Your going to fight more than the $24 ESC is worth. Even if they did send you another one what would you do with it? It obviously isnt going to work for your boat?

The batteries are probably on the weak side also. 4.000ma x 30c = 120A max I think 45C in the 4000ma batteries are where you should be.

The propeller is more than likely another issue.

I would advise reading other peoples builds and going from there. You can piece it together as you go running in between. You will probably be happiest with a new motor, larger ESC, better batts and a proper prop! Think of it as a Hull and hardware purchase because in the end it what it really is. Whether you realize it now or not.

hobbyking unfortunately has the worst reputation in hobby history.the theory is buy,,,, then when it breaks you are on your own,they have what seems to be low pricing but they have no clue what a real hobbyist needs hence the bs support and clueless answers they give you.in reality the hull/motor is the only thing that you should be reusing and maybe the hardware.It does seem like the 100amp esc is not quite enough for that application as well....in conclusion you are now in the proper spot to get good answers on here from real boaters just look around and ask questions bud,its a steep learning curve kinda lol.you should look into the turnigy 180 amp esc from hobbyking as it is decent for the money and handles larger loads.just dont expect to get service on it from them.good luck with the rebuild tho

Sorry Kyle, but R2hobbies OWNS that title. Hobby King's failure to communicate is a hassle, but they have always covered my butt, eventually. You will always be covered if you buy your stuff here on OSE. They may charge a small amount more, but they speak perfect English and shipping is fast.

I ALWAYS use Paypal - they will refund your money if you get screwed by any seller. Only had to do that once - can you say "R2hobbies"?

Ditto on buying a T180 ESC. Best bang for the buck out there. For 8+ cell Lipos, I use Castle ICE2 200 amp HV ESCs. JIM

Ya I dont think thats a wise choice either. T180 man! Get an external BEC to go along with it. Internal is known to have issues frequently.

I have a castle hydra ice 240 and personally and honestly I like hobbywing esc's much MUCH better. If hobbywing made a 240amp esc I would jump for joy! I use hobbywings in my boats, cars, planes and I'm about to build a 450 heli that will have a hobbywing. Just a me thing, I trust them more then I do the Castle esc's. I'm a huge castle motor fan, just not overally excited about their esc's. My hydra ice 240 died on the first one, got it replaced for free (their customer service rocks) but nontheless died the first run. I never had a hobbywing die on the first run and the one & only hobbywing I ever killed I was abuseing the crap out of it and consitantly running it to or beyond its limiteds and she just quietly died, no smoke no flames just stopped.

Expensive doesn't always mean better, ask the Traxxas Spartan owners about that.

I use hobbywings in my boats, cars, planes and I'm about to build a 450 heli that will have a hobbywing. Just a me thing, I trust them more then I do the Castle esc's. I'm a huge castle motor fan, just not overally excited about their esc's. Sorry you've had bad luck with Castle ESCs. I did fry one of my HYDRA ICE 200HVs, but have had no issues with their ICE2 replacements. Have you considered the Turnigy 240HV? I've had good luck with them so far. JIM

If your talking about the turnigy aquastar 240hv, that's a Hifei swordfish, same that steve sells here at ose. I really like the Hifei esc's. They're not as waterproof as the hobbywings out of the box, but I started waterproofing my own and I really like them. I've owned the 120 and I own a few 200s. The low end throttle isn't as smooth as the hobbywings, but I've had good luck with them. They (Hifei) do make a king kong air series esc with built in data-logging that I would like to try. Og course I would start with a plane I don't care to much about, just to gain confidence but nontheless would like to try. The only reason I bought the CC Ice is I got it on sale and ended being less then the swordy 240 and it had built in data-logging. If the price would have been more then the swordy I would have went the other route. The Ice has a crap load of cool features and castle link rocks, I'm just not a huge cc esc fan. I can't get into them. For cars I like the added programming, but a hobbywing ez run is so muuch cheaper and I just like them so much more. Like I said, just a me thing. Nothing against Castle esc's. I still support them, I love their motors, bec's and bullet connectors. They still get my $$$ just not in the esc department.
