Where I live in Georgia,USA I am lucky enough to have two lakes,a few parks with ponds and a friend with a private lake for me to run on. No matter where I go I have a few rules that I go by and I have never had a problem no matter where I go. I am not a duck chaser...If there is water foul around that I will be greatly disturbing then I go else where. If someone is fishing then I go else where and if people are around I am not sure of then I ask them if they would mind if I run my boats and I let them know they are not gas and only run for a few minutes at a time and if they are bothered by it after my first run then....I will go else where. I understand that not everybody has the benefit of being able to switch spots and even though I do it is still a hassle to pack and unpack but I found that a little bit of respect prior to my escapades can go a long way! Like I said this is just how I operate but so far I have been welcome back everywhere I go and have managed to drag a few others into this great hobby of ours! Have a safe and enjoyable holiday!

I don't know how to drag a quote, sorry for the inconveniences. First let me say that if I offended anyone particularly members who served in the Armed Forces I apologize.
I am merely saying my way is to avoid confrontation and certainly not to escalate anything into an unmanageable event. I don't ever appear as to challenge whoever tells me not to boat. By giving them the respect, I gain a chance to present my side of the story, and it has worked for me.
I say "stealth" and I was marveling our technology in our stealth fighter aircrafts. They do win combats, no mistake about it, one does not need a doctoral degree in history to know/remember that.
I WILL NOT PM you because like you said I do want to stay on the topic and certainly not bring "insult" to this thread and forum in a larger sense. If I complied with your command then I too am guilty of assuming that something should be discussed under a veil of secrecy---the ultimate injury and insult to this thread. Please don't PM me either as I consider the PM function is used for personal information only. Everything that is said here is good natured and not aimed to hurt anyone's feeling, if your feeling is hurt, then I apologize to you as well.

Definately stand up for your rights. As i have pointed out before, whatever lake you run at visit the local police as they have jurisdiction over the lake, state police for state park bodies of water, the parks dept only control gates and boat ramps. The biggest thing for folks to remember is that our rigs are not boats by definition, they are toys and not covered by the lake or park rules. I went from the assistant gov on down the chain to get an answer in washington, no one else had done this in this state and it was finally left up to local law enforcement. So like i have pointed out, be nice to your local areas finest. Grin.

Some folks will try to tell you our toys are not toys, that is just the thing we need to finish screwing folks in the long run is get a change in definition because of ego put into the law books and then you have real problems.

My boats are insured under fine arts and jewelry, and are considered "toy collectibles", i showed this to the police and the problem was solved "By definition" keeps me safe from loud mouths and lake trolls. At least in washington state.

I think what I will do is show up at the next parks commission meeting with a real toy boat from say Toys r Us or something. They are going to have to get lawyers involved in order to word some sort of ordinance banning certain toys from the park. I just dont think they will want to do that. Electric toy boats will be hard to ban I think. They arent going to ban kids and their toys are they?

You are right, deception is not the answer. But I was thinking more along the lines of " if you ban my boat, you have to ban all "toy" boats" . I am going to offer/suggest/ask/beg a set of rules possibly. I will agree to run only during certain hours, on certain days, always no running if the swimming beach is open. No running within say 300ft? of any fisherman. I don't know, I'm trying to think of the best way to approach this. Are there any orginizations that you know of that might help or have info on this sort of thing. I see a few discussions on the web. Nothing really concrete. I have a Motley Crew, not the sort of boat to endear the fogies on the parks commision, lol.
I was also told a couple of weeks ago that I do have a right to run my boat on the lake, this was from the local police officer.

Bring your boat and show them it's electric. If the police don't mind, then why even bother going to a meeting? Just because some local douchebag resident said something, doesn't mean you have to go thru all this. Keep running there with respect for swimmers and fisherman and you'll be fine.

I can't image anyone complaining about our boats running on any lake that big boats are allowed.
I guess I take for granted how non green we are here in Texas. Most of the places we run the police will show up to make sure we are not kids partying and then will sit and watch for a while. I've even had them say to make sure we don't hit a duck because it would really destroy my nice boat. Little dif attitude down here.
Also, when in Texas, make sure your loaded assault rifle is concealed in your car or you may get a ticket for not doing so.

I'm in the Lansing area, Holt actualy. THis very small lake is closed to all boats and flotation devices, unless you get permission for an event I am assuming, as the triathalon'ers use a couple of kayaks for safety reasons. But, is my Motley Crew a "boat" or a "flotation device", according to the legal definition of a boat? There is this site that sells a "fishing" RC boat that you actualy use to fish with. The makers actualy got a letter from the Michigan DNR stating that using this fishing RC boat is LEGAL, as long as the fisherman is always in direct contact with the line and it is not the boat bringing in the fish.
