John, you need to read it again. Nobody on here has said they are in favor of the new nitro rules. Not sure who the big dogs are that you think you're not agreeing with.

None of this effects any electric racing at this time and if it leaked into NAMBA FE there would be a mutiny. I would lead that charge myself.

Only IMPBA allows a chairman and/or the executive board to enact a trial set of national level rules that effect everyone. In NAMBA, that has to be done at the grass roots level. Prove it to us before you try to take it national. Unless it's a safety issue of course. Then by all means have the BOD step in. It's the inherent flaw in IMPBA. If you don't like the direction your leaders are going you vote those leaders out. Unfortunately, the damage is already done. Fortunately, I believe the current FE chair for IMPBA does have FE's best interest in mind. I feel that's true for both organizations. This will likely be the first time in years that I actually join IMPBA.

I still wonder about the reasoning for this change to the nitro rules. What's the motivation? All changes to rules are designed to address a problem. Something inspired someone to pick up a pencil so to speak. So......what fer?

bozo586 - relax please. We are actually on the same side of this fence. My cheese and whine signature was created like 4 Months ago when the P-Limited rules were being targeted for the 150th time. The signature stays with every post regardless of the subject. Have someone in your club/area show you how to do a signature.

Yup - too many rules. The crux of the problem IMO - 90% of the rules are for Straightline and Oval records while only 10% or less of the memberships go for records. The majority of us that heat race would be just fine with a 2 page rulebook.

That information is cleverly hidden in the March Roostertail starting on page 9. http://impba.net/attachments/152_M12Z.pdf

It is the first line of that page that concerns me from an FE standpoint. IMPBA is defining what a sport hydroplane is. That leads one to believe that it applies to all power classes. I'm less concerned now that Mr Sheren has clarified this as not applying to FE.

I don't get the Rooster. Okay, I read it. What a load of BS. Who bought all that? Less animosity? The guys who have raced whips for years might experience some animosity. I could be wrong though. Maybe they're glad their boats were rendererd illegal with a sweep of the hand. Nobody knows what a modified rigger is? Really?

No considiration for what was already out there. Sport is doing well so let's change it. We'll "enhance" it by deleting a bunch of boats from the lexicon. At the BOD directors meeting they should have also mentioned to the board that the new rule would make a bunch of boats illegal. Bet it wouldn't be a trial set today.

Sorry guys, IMPBA pooped the bed on this one.

              Doug,

That's a bit of an odd perspective... considering that the small group of SAW guys, NAMBA speaking, anyhow, are not even running anything CLOSE to the current NAMBA power limits for the SAW setups... AND, talk has been going on for YEARS about creating a SAW-only rule-set that would be considerably more restrictive than the heat-racing power specifications.

Is this opinion targeted to NAMBA AND IMPBA, or just IMPBA?? I just don't see it from a NAMBA perspective.

              But, I digress... Back to...

I'd like to see an example of that two page rule book.

Interesting. I just went out and measured my collection of sport 20 & 40 nitro applicable hydro hulls, here's the list: MTO sport 40 and sport 20 round noses (illegal-keelson & transom width), PT Stealth sport 20 (illegal-keelson & transom width), 20 and 40 Whips (illegal-keelson), Mutt II sport 40 (illegal-air trap width), Snake sport 20 (legal), H&M Sport 20 size round nose (illegal-keelson & transom width), H&M SuperSport 21 (illegal-air trap width).

1 of 9 is still legal.

If the rule extends to sport 12, both Dark Horse hulls are illegal as well.

I don't have examples of the PI hulls or PT's other offerings.

Going to be lots of cheap used Nitro boats for sale for conversion to Electric. Assuming, of course they don't get mad and convert their fleets to Electric! LOL

This is starting to sound alot like the ROAR debacle in RC car racing. The manafacturers got on the Board of Directors and guess what, you could only race their products, I hope boat racing has not reached this point.

I think we should all just race shingles or tuperware hulls.

We have to be reading this rule wrong. How could a bunch of electric tools that aren't even effected by this rule be the only ones to recognize the impact of this? Isn't the nitro gang outraged? Makes me think we're just reading it wrong.

No sir, I can take it and I have total and complete confidence that this will be fixed. Guys like me that aren't BIG into scales rely heavily on those people who are. Some things were missed, it happens, what can we do but fix it?
This time would be better spent finding a solution.
The op could have saved all of this by contacting his DD and or Scale Director. Oh well.

Like I said, the sky isn't falling, relax fellas.

I just checked IW. Some guys that were made illegal suddenly are pissed. It'll have to get fixed. I feel ya.

Why not just say "Insane hulls are illegal"? Reading between the lines it sounds like they don't want nitro sport to look like the insane gas sport rigger. They see where gas sport is evolving and don't want that to happen to them too. That Dunlap boat is the most modified rigger looking thing I've seen.

Some straight up guidelines will make it easier to design a boat. Having few boats legal for the upcoming season would be a set back instead of an enhancement. They just need to make an adjustment to keep the existing boats racing while still providing some limitations on new stuff. Change the 50% break to 40% and it's probably fixed.
