Really it depends on what the masses want to run. The district has always told me that if we have 4 plus guys to run in a class, they would run the class for us.

After years of attending NAMBA gas/nitro events and us SoCal FE's hanging around getting to know the racers on a weekly basis, D19 has finally allowed two FE classes to run during their events, given the 5 boat entry minimum is met to make a class. FE can run in NAMBA Gas/Nitro Open class at any time, but FE's have a tough time in gasserwater. Last year we ran dedicated FE P-Sport Hydro, P-Ltd Sport Hydro, and P-Mono heats. The P-Sports were too ballistic and few survived six laps. I actually won a P-Sport 4-heat class with my P-Ltd boat 'cause it had more finishes. This year we're running P-Ltd Sport Hydro and P-Mono and have a full schedule of racing.

Last weekend we ran both classes with seven boats in each class. Right after the starts, turn one was a with seven boats (all you can see is roostertails) trying to hold a lane that only exists in your imagination .

Your (highlighted) comment should be well considered. It's one thing to hot-rod a boat for a few high-speed passes, but until you can do six laps on the 1/6 mile, it's not a raceboat within the context of sprint heat racing.

Best bet to get things going in your district is to get to know the guys putting on the races as well as building a relationship with your district Director. Then you'll need to assemble enough HEAT-RACEABLE boats in a given class (whatever's most popular in your area) and ask to put on an FE exhibition class during one of their races. If all goes well, you're on your way.

The P-Limited seem good starting point. They are the most popular and most economical classes to run. Namba1 has a pretty good FE crowd in the NY/NJ area. I'm sure they can help get you on your way and maybe even come up to a race to support you.

My tips for getting racing started in your district.

1. Join NAMBA or IMPBA. Which ever body your local club is affiliated. No one is going to listen to you from the outside.
2. Be active in the club. Go above and beyond. It' sad to say but most clubs rely on a few people to do the majority of the work. If you help during a race even if there are no FE classes,you will get instant credibility,
3. When you run with the club, have your "sheet" together. Show the guys you take the hobby as seriously as they do. First impressions are important. You will be representing the FE community.
4. Knock the FE chip or your shoulder. Expect stupid comments from the gassers. Most are based on ignorance or misinformation. Have a thick skin and laugh it off.

6. Use large capacitors with no anti spark device. The big spark scares the gassers.

I personally don't want a combined nats. Some of is have been discussing this since 2005. Throw FE in with the fuel boys and we'll be looking at a 12 day event. Not me thank you. An exhibition class or two could work though.

I've been running gas for over 20 yrs,never raced. I've gone to some D11 races just to watch. Now i'm just getting into FE,smaller boats,easy to transport,and quieter. OK so what is a P spec, motor,esc,battery? I have 2 Dumas wood,and 1 FG and a un powered MM. How should I power the MM for P spec ? Any one interested in a local fun run? Larry

Jajaja , actually they had help me a lot plus all the reading and searching I do but they are cool with Fe boats and the more the better
