Wow, I like what you did to this. It looks super stable on the water and the turn fins are a nice touch. I just installed some on mine last night.

Yep, here you go. I'm not sure if I mounted them correctly or not as far as angle and location. I kind of went off of what my Impulse fins looked like in relation to the hull and where the outdrives were at full left or right turn. Do you see anything wrong with the way I mounted them? I picked these up off EBay for really cheap. I super glued the edges and lightly sanded them so they were a little sharper. I used white water proof caulking to prevent water leaking where the screws went into the back of the transom. I checked them this morning and they are as solid as they can be for this being a plastic hull.

Also, the whole drive line on this is new. I replaced just about everything except for the main drive gear. I really like this boat but keeping the water out is a pain. I will not be running lipos in this one...

They do look clean. Im a fan of carbon fiber for sure. I cant comment on placement because mine are mounted like M.A.W's through the bottom of the hull so I dont have any adjustment

I like the turn fins, they look kinda high up but they will dip in pretty well in a corner.......................does it hold the rear well and keep it stable?

Thanks guys! I have'nt ran it since I installed these on the boat. I thought when I mounted them they might be a bit high but the rear end of this boat sits so low in the water. There is not much room to work with on the back of this thing the way the rear is stepped up. I'm just hoping it keeps the boat from spinning out.

Turn fins are to long for one thing, drag. I don't use trim tabs but extend all the strakes to the end of transom but make a step at the end. Ex turns on a dime.I see whats his name has turn fins inserted intoo boat and thats pretty smooth idea.

Thanks for the info Fred. I don't plan on putting trim tabs on this. It has a lot of drag as it is so we will see how testing goes...

I ran mine the other day without turn fins with another Villain that had the fins. Carbon like the ones above and it was a huge difference. Mine was a bit faster when it wasn't filling up with water (leak in the cooling hose) but the other Villain had much better turning. Mine would spin out if pushed where the other would just dart around and change direction. Not sure if the trim tabs hurt mine or not, they are quite large for the boat, but helped keep the front end more stable than the stock setup.

on a side note, i love these villains. im really glad i picked this one from the LHS before they where discontinued.
i also have a blast that is slower than an old home, and a formula fastech i recently bought to replace the impulse 26
that went to the locker..

that thing is sick.. i like the scale boats, that why i bought the formula fastech. i have brushless, and brushed boats. the blast is for the GF. she is safe with that, and so is my pocket.
