My friend Allen encountered this boat in his travels. There's a good chance he will get one of these hulls and ask me to build it as an FE. Anyone with prior knowledge of these designs ? Sounds like an interesting project.

Looks like the easy way to make a stepped mono, often the fastest way to run them is on the front step and prop anyway so do you really need the rear? I know someone in the UK who molds DF style hulls but with a more traditional step for Naviga Mono racing.Paul Upton-Taylor, Greased Weasel Racing.Comment

wouldn't you want the transition from mono to cat to decrease slowly, so you have more of a smooth transition, it would work slightly like a canard.Comment

He can call it anything he wants of course, but it is not a catamaran. It is not an air trapping hull, nor does ride on the "sponsons" since the vee is lower than the "sponsons". In effect it is a deep vee with a deeply cutaway stern. There is probably a reason he does not post the video of the boat running.....
