    Need help with setup

    DSC00589.jpg

I just finished building a scale center console outboard using the EP1 outboard. The boat is a basic mono hull with shape like a inshore shallow water boat, with only one planing surface and shallow "V". (pictures located in my album of build) Weighs 5 lbs and is 27.75" long 8.5" wide. While testing I burned up the stock motor from what I thought was water ingestion, but may not be. Here is the setup now:

    25T brushed motor from Aquacraft
ProBoat Waterproof ESC PRB2314 designed for 15T or higher, Input voltage 6 to 10 cell (7.2-12 volts) forward current 50A, reverse 20A, BEC 6v 1A max.
DynaMax 8.4v 5000 mah NIMH battery
    ProBoat 1.6" X 2.5" prop PRB0151

This boat was originally setup with a 2100 mah 8.4 volt battery for test and did not burn up, just run time was too short so I up'd the battery to the 5000mah.

After initially burning up the 25T motor, I replaced it with a 17T TeamAssociated motor. This motor with the above setup and 5000mah battery on first run after about 2 minutes melted the positive lead from the motor before burning up. No water was inside the motor as I taped up the cowl to lower unit seem. As a scale boat it is not run at full throttle for much time and usually at half or 2/3 throttle.

I'm wondering if the prop is putting too much load on the motor, but it ran fine, just slow with the 2100 mah battery.

    Any help or insight greatful.
