Except when the bolt is up against the side of the radio box and you can't tighten it.

I figured that's what you were getting at...

These are square shaped. You might be able to drill and tap so the screw is facing you....

Better yet, cut the 4-40 rod to the correct length and solder on a clevis... MUCH better linkage if you ask me... Just my 2 pennies though.
