Esc issues

Wonerring if anybody can shed some light on an esc issue.
Have stock standard Delta Force Sniper 23. the kids accidently entered the program mode and I cannot for the life of me work out what was changed. The esc armes ok, pull the throttle and the motor runs for a couple of seconds and then cuts out. Disconnect the battery and try again, same thing happens. Can someone please assist. I have the esc instructions but cannot fathom what would cause the issue. Tried connecting a new motor and same thing, esc has never been drowned or hot. Great little boat, need to get it running again. Also have a similar issue with an etti 150 esc with my sv 27, where the motor shudders when the trigger is pulled. Using Spectrum dx3s with new batteries as well

Did you first set the throttle range? Hold the trigger on the transmitter at full throttle, plug in the battery, wait for some beeps then move the trigger all the way forward and wait for a couple more beeps. This sets the throttle range. Not sure if your esc works that way but worth a try.

On the Etti, if the motor just shudders when you give it throttle, you most likely have a bad connection at one of the motor leads. You could try to unplug and replug them several times. If that doesn't do it, try resoldering the connectors one at a time until you find it. Or, resolder the connectors on esc and motor.

Thank you sailr, You are correct on both accounts. All's working good now. The df sniper 23 had to also be set to auto cell count. Good little boat on 3 and really quick on 4cells, been running it for 12 months. Good to get them on the water again. Great way to spend some quality time with the kids.

Sorry jump in but I just thought I'd share this thread instead of starting a newie. I'm having trouble calibrating a t180, I've programmed it via the card and I can get it to function correctly when going through the calibration steps, it's just that when I unplug the lipo and then plug it back in, instead of remembering the last calibration, it wants me to re do it, if I leave the tx alone, the esc and motor go through a few "beep-beep" then a chime and after the chime the motor takes off at full throttle I've tried with a seperate rx pack and using the internal bec, I've reprogrammed it several times, set it to 4s and lvc has been tried at 3.2v and 3v, I've set another one up without all this trouble, what am I doing wrong?? I really don't want to have to remember to calibrate the throttle/esc everytime I plug in a lipo

What kind of radio are you using? If futaba, did you set the throttle (ch-2) to reverse? So your holding the th. at full, plugging in the battery and you get the two beeps, then let go to neutral and it should arm. Try disconnecting at that point, wait a few seconds, then plug back in and see what happens. If its all good, then program it.

I'm using a dx3s, I have enen tried to reverse the tx and all it did was just that, this just has me stumped, I calibrate, it works, then I unplug, plug back in and I get two beeps and the only way to stop it from going into full throttle after it's chime is to after the first two beeps, I pull the trigger to full throttle, I get another two beeps and then I settle the throttle back to neutral and another beep follows, then 4 beeps indicating 4s and she all good. If I go through the calibration steps each time I plug in it seems to work no worries My first t180 was so easy, I'm lost on this one

The ESC's firmware may not be storing the throttle calibration setting. Try using the program card to set the timing to any value other than default, which is 15 degrees. Disconnect all power, power back on, & recheck the timing setting that you entered with the program card again. If the value isn't the same as what you changed it to, the firmware isn't working properly, which could possibly affect the proper storage of the throttle calibration setting as well.

I tried double checking that and it's holding the program setting no worries, I've tried everything I know(which is not much), everywhich way except rebinding the tx and rx, I'll do that in a moment just to see. Worst case scenario is that I'll have to hold the trigger at full everytime I connect the batteries, what a bummer. Anyone know of any solutions?

well I re bound the tx and rx, changed the esc program to nearly every different setting, tried with and without internal bec. I think this esc may have alzheimers disease, this is the esc that I modded in this thread http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ing&highlight= I wish now that I'd just calibrated and programmed b4 I made these changes because now I don't know if it's something I've done to cause the issue or if I've just got a dud.
I've sent a support request off to the geniuses at HK, I bet I get a message back telling me to "Hold the throttle at full position, plug in battery, wait two beeps, release throttle to neutral"

Just read your thread on the mods you performed on the ESC. It stated that you filed-down the old posts in order to get the EC5 connectors to fit. It's possible that a particle from the filing process found it's way into a position to bridge two pins on the firmware chip, or you may have cracked the component mounting board. You might try disassembling the ESC & give it a thorough inspection.

Hk sent me an email this morning asking me to take video footage of the issue and send it through to them, well hey, there not stupid, as if I'm going to spend the time doing that. Besides then they'll see my stupid modds that caused it, well done HK, got me outta there hair real quick.
I will take this thing apart for an inpsection, it'll be good for me to learn what's going on inside.

Thats easy, just pull the throttle 100%, then connect the battery, after two beep, let go, it will be calibrated itself, this doesn't stated in the instruction manual, hope it helps
