Quick GPS Question

Quick question to you folks. What GPS units do you use in your boats? I want to pick up a nice light one to replace my old radar gun.

Garmin 101 and 201...something or another....its small. Made for a runner.

There are 2 version. The 101 uses AAA batterys, and the 201 has the rechargable's built in. Thats the only differance.

Other than top speed readings.....Both these GPS units suck for just about anything else IMO.

I have the Garmin Gecko. I picked it up for $50 from megagps.com The unit weighs 3.2oz with batteries. It is about a .5 oz heavier than the 101 and 201 units, and a bit cheaper.

Same here as obrien...been using the gecko for a good 5 years now.

Great info I'll check it out. It will sure be better than having my wife aim a radar gun at the boat while it heads directly at her coming to shore!

So far so good. That gps has taken some pretty good hits so far with some of the blowovers I have had. So far so good, and hopefully it will keep on going for a while.
