Absolutely stunning! Love the concept! We need a kit...for spec and bigger. Of course you'd have to make the hardware available too!
Got transome?

There's a 2215 in there at the moment on 6s2p HYPERIAN 4200'S. Hydro Ice speedo. The 2215 wont likely stay in there. I think it's too much motor. It will likely go back to the 1527 for heat racing.
The hardware is cut on a wire EDM with some tweaks from me. Its through bolted up from the bottom with countersunk screws. No drag there.
Hope it works.
I've had conversasions with Brian before about making molds but just gum flapping. I did mold the canopy but it's a cheapy mold. Nothing production capable.
Found a shot of the inards before completion.Attached FilesNoisy person

This one is the 40. My old Whip 20 was a pig. I got up to a 646/3 on that one. Nothing effected the handling on that but it weighed 9 lbs with 4s1p. With 2p I could run any prop the motor could turn. I've never max'd out props on the little brother of this new one. The one I built last winter never got over 45mm but I neve put a real motor in it to play with either.Noisy person

On my whip 20 I have ran as large as a x450 with the 1521 1.5d motor on 4s1p 6500 the boat shows no torque roll and rides flat, however it does have a ton of prop walk and is hard to track straight.Originally posted by detox View PostInteresting...thanks for sharing. BTW how big of a prop will the Whiplash 20 turn without affecting handling (such as prop induced chine walk down the straits). Still learning.

you think thats to much motor? WOW! I keep thinking that I wished I had put that 2215 in my whip 40.

I raced against Fred with his AC40 running that monster in it. It gobbled up pond like nobodies business. It was too much for the boat. By a lot. Even after he changed the sponsons the setup was too crazy. Honestly I don't think there is a Sport 40 that can handle the speeds we can achieve with a 6s setup. Not off the shelf in stock form at least. The Whip and the Thomas are sweet but both have to be modified to really go where we can get. We're right at the edge at the speeds we were running at the nats. My opinion of course.
I was hopeful that this one was a better design than the AC. I know it's a lot different from my last 40. Maybe it can take the beast but I just don't know yet. The biggest problem with the last one was that it wasn't built strong enough to take the G forces. It would bend the fin until it could climb right over it. The screws came loose every time I raced the thing.
Even if it does work, our club pond doesn't have enough water in it to run that setup. That's why I set it up to take the other two 1527 options. The 1527 should put all the guys in the club around the same speed.Noisy person

according to Brian Blazer the current Whip 40 is a new design. when I ordered mine I had to wait for the kit to be finished.
I think it can take more speed than we ran at Nats. I know my boat was the most un tuned set up there, it came off the work bench with a x455 bolted on, ran it, temps were good, stuck a x457 on it, ran, it temps were good. went to the Nats just like that, NO strut adjustments, No CG adjustments, NO rudder adjustments, NO radio adjustments, NO lead weight, nothing!

...I thought it was a 20. I was wandering how you fit 6s2p in that configuration. The larger 40 explains it.

That hardware is sweet.
