I would pull the motor mounts out and move the motors back a bit.They are too far back.This will also help.Running twins,you should only need a very slight bend in the tube.And like everyone else says,you have to angle the motors a bit to help match up with the stuffing tube.I think if you leave it like it is,it only going to give you problems in the future.Might as well make it right while its easier.

Use the 1/4" stuffing tube. It will work just fine.

i was looking at mudl's setup on his twin genisis and his motors a similarly placed to mine..i managed to get a slight more angle out of the motors but not much..with the 1/4 tube it turns really free which gets my hopes up..it may bite me in the end but i am going with it..a sleeve may be required to keep the water out though..thanks guys your info has really helped

I have the same boat and I bent the aluminum on the motor mount plate that is glassed to the hull.I also lowered the motors so the motors are just off the floor and tipped to the angle of the hole.My wire drives are almost perfectly flat with no binding.My total drive length is around 10".I will post a picture when it gets back from the paint shop.

i have since angled them down as much as i could for the space i have..i need to offset the mount angles also which sucks because the mounts are really secured to the hull..when i mocked the mounts up the water cooling fittings were hitting the side of the hull so i thought i had ran out of room..i did not look close enough and now its going to be a real pain to fix this

A low temp heat gun will help to loosen the mounts or epoxy resin,, or you can make another mount and mount it to the fixed mount with the correct angle

i have used a hairdryer on regular epoxy which works slick...but i secured the mounts with system 3 ...which is supposed to be more of a permanent set epoxy resin..hopefully alittle heat will loosen this stuff also...i gotta be careful so i do not do something stupid and melt the hull or something...thanks for all the comments..i will get it eventually t...this is my first twin cat build where things are cramped and layout is an issue right now for me

i on the same 'boat' as well, to be frank, getting the right motor mount positioning will be the most challenging in this whole bulit. Not the soldering, not drilling etc

to make matters even more interesting. Im having two oversize t600 (not recommended) outrunners compared to smaller in size,scorpion motors. Having to tilt them forward front means the end bell will come in contact with the upper deck upon spooling. My head is cracking i will post up some photos when i am back from office

Hi guys,

have a look at these options

1. mount is set around 4.5" with lift of endbell to have it tilt forward without flexing too much of the cable. I wanna know is this ideal spot for the mount mount?

2.mount is set around 6" with very little lift of endbell. I think this doesnt look right but still i would wanna hear inputs from you guys thanks
