I was given this K&B motor. I removed the 3.5 nitro and will convert it to a BL motor and have ordered the adapter from Steven. I added a highjack and will put it on a VS-1 I got from Jason - The HD he got from DT. I am thinking that I will use a F-8XL and use a T-120 for now. I don't have any need for the 3.5 nitro but have no idea what I should do with it - any ideas? It seems to have good compression.

If your going to convert it to electric your going to need trim the main body down. A good band saw will do the job. Without the nitro motor there is lots of alum to trim away. And it makes the lower look better.Originally posted by egneg View Postbut have no idea what I should do with it - any ideas?

It is not mandatory to trim the lower unit! I run on a stock unit with no problems and get great speeds. The difference in weight is minimal and the looks is a personal taste.Mini Cat Racing USA

Thanks for that Jim, I was thinking what if I ever wanted to put the nitro motor back on for some reason. Like if I wanted to sell it I think that it would fetch a better price if folks had the option to go either way. But on the other hand these may be on the way out because of noise laws and muffler requirements. So the nitro motor for this lower unit could very well be a dinosaur.Originally posted by sailr View PostIt is not mandatory to trim the lower unit!
