Flush mount water water pick ups???

Anyone have trouble not getting water from these? I put them in my twin fighter cat and went out to run her for the first time today and wasnt seeing anything comming out. I can blow through them and I get water and air out but when im running i see nothing comming up. I have them both mounted toward the rear of the pads and each one goes through the esc then motor then out per side. Any ideas here. She hauls the mail but i dont want to burn anything up.

Take a dremel and taper the inlets out into the F/G a bit, you can also taper and open the 2 brass hose barbs when you have the dremel out

how far do you have them mounted from the transom they should be right up against it !!!

Hey thanks Chris good idea i just needed somone to kick me in the head and jumpstart my brain. I remember having the same problem in my gas sprint cat and going back to rudder pick up but I just love the way this thing looks without external hoses. Plus they are glassed in real nice. Future reference dont use square end drives.

Yeah they are as far back as i can get them. Id say i have maybe 3/16 more on the pads before im t the end so i cant move back anymore.

I have them on 2 cats and that is what I did to mine it works

When you say thats what you did. you mean dremeling out the inlet longer on the glass? Maybe even past the aluminum on the pick up into the glass? These are the rectangle ones i bought here on OSE so to get much longer ill have to pass the aluminum and get farther forward on the pads with the "trench inlet" so to speak?

That is plenty far back. What are the temps of the ESCs and motors? If they are cool enough then who cares if water shoots out the exits or not, the system is doing its job. Below is how another boater did his.

I understand i dont need it shooting up 2 feet but im not even seeing a trickle

Yes correct !!! and you can make them a bit wider I will take some pics tomorrow

Cool Chris thanks, I was just about to rip them out...lol... I just dont get that even at slow speed im seeing nothing. But Ill give her a wack. Pics would be great thanks, Duane

You will never see much water exiting at low speed because the pressure on the rear of the sponsons is low. As speed increases the pressure on the sponson bottoms increases and flow increases. It is not like a rudder pickup.

How are the temperatures of your ESC and motor? Perhaps the system is working fine now.

You may be right. Im just used to seeing water. Temp wise I couldnt tell ya. I made a couple of wide open passes at 100 feet or so, maybe 45 seconds to a minute run and I nothing was even warm so maybe they are fine. I just brought her in because I was concerned. What temps am I looking for? This is my first FE im an ex gasser so im not sure what temps are considered normal. Suggestion?
