As crazy as it sounds, the wife and I came up with a use for it last night. Or at least the one the link goes to at HK. I don't know that we'd actually do it, but my wheels are spinning and I've done dumber things in the past.
We have all these small lakes around our area which are marked "electric boats only." People mostly use electric pontoon boats and paddle boats on them. We always joked that it would be awesome to have an electric stand-up Jet Ski. Well, the original Kawi 440 ski was exactly the same horsepower as the motor from HK. And it's trivial to find a dead Jet Ski with a usable hull but destroyed motor, usually free or for like $100. We're about to buy a perfectly working one for $400, they're all just old and not worth much any more.
So...that motor weighs a lot less than the gas motor in it, but of course the batteries would really add some weight. LiPo would make it prohibitively expensive, but good old lead-acid is a reasonable possibility.
I wonder what the cops would do, who would surely be called when you use this thing.Comment

Watching that jet ski makes me feel like it has lead-acid batteries in it - seems bogged down some. Could really use some LIPO'S! But I (roughly) did the math and it would be cost prohibitive to be sure!
