Hi, I am getting ready to rework the Triton. I was just wondering what motor I should put in it? I will be using 14 IB4200's and a Pulso 100 amp ESC. Just sport running. Hoping to get in the mid to high 40's or faster if possible. Thanks

9 or a 10XL will get you there.

You should also ditch the NIMH batteries and buy LIPO!!Originally posted by H&MWill View PostHi, I am getting ready to rework the Triton. I was just wondering what motor I should put in it? No I dont! Have tried a 8xl on x442 and lipo and I melted the 5.5 mm plugs off. This was on 5s though, lower voltage mite be OK, one thing though the triton hull needs a larger thrust cone than the 42 mm can offer it will cavitate like mad getting going. 14 sub c and the 9xl with a m445 is a good start. Mine runs 53-55mph with a 5s and m447, and 50-52 mph with a m445. The m445 handles better with less prop walk. The m447 can make it do a 360 deg barrel roll at 50mph over a wake. It is the boat in my avatar and whilst I agree with others that there are better handiling hulls the self righting of this hull makes up for that and they are SO strong. My hull has been driven over and hit a wall at about 45 and has NO damage other than a few scratches. You will need trim tabs at these speeds and a good turn fin.Last edited by andym; 11-15-2007, 04:07 AM.

It has been done with those props on a well set up Triton Graham. I would be more concerned about the cells than the motor. Keep the runtime short so you don't dump the cells.Originally posted by G Doggett View PostBecause I have lashed out and bought 2 8XLs and Hydra ESCs for my Jolly I was hoping to be able to 'borrow' one for the Triton.
If I kept the prop size down to say an X440 or 42 and use only 12 cells do you think it would survive ?

A club member raced that setup for several weeks on 4s while waiting on a Neu motor. It ran pretty close to the 1515 1y.
(The motor was water cooled)
