Why always 6s on everything? It doesn't always take crazy RPM and lots of voltage to go fast. You gotta work on your setup first. Get some different props, learn how to program the esc or better yet get the program card. I wouldn't run the motor on 6s either, but that's just me. I have the same motor and plan on running 4s, maybe 5 if I feel froggy, but I doubt will. We are not trying to stop you from doing what you want, but your begging to blow something. We are just trying to help, its things like this when a new guy gets in the hobby blows something apart not knowing what hes doing, then gets out of the hobby mad because his money just went up in smoke.

Diesel you are dead on the money. That boat probably won't stay on the water long with 6s and that motor.I have run the same setup in my miss geico but I have a little more experience. Like Deisel said start on 4s and go from there. There is plenty enough power to spin a big prop with that motor on 4s.FE BOATING: Less like a hobby and more like an addiction!

If you really wanted to go with 6S, you should stay with the stock 1500KV motor...and work with different props, strut depth, strut angle, etc. You could easily get into the high 40s with just a few tweaks here and there.Go Brushless or GO HOME

ok... thanks for the info. i'll get some new props and go from there with the 1512 1800kv. i got the apparition hull in from the swap forum. what's a good setup for that? what props should i get for the 1800kv setup to run 4s-5s?
i'd like to make good use of the 1512 2650kv, what hull would work with this, ji'm guessing something bigger?
and yea.. i thank you guys for keeping me inline and not from making newbie mistakes, fires, and bombs at the pond.. lol.

Wrong, smaller, like a smaller rigger or mono around 23" or so. Your really limited with that motor. For the apparition a cc 1518 4s/5s, leopard 4074 2200kv on 4s, 1774 on 4s/5s or a 1400 on 6s. I would go with the 1774. I run that motor in a 29" cat on 4s and hulls a$$

The cc 1518 1800kv on 4s should be a nice choice jmo. Yes your statment is generally correct . What you want to do is target your rpm range. 26-28k for sport and around low 30 if you want to get crazy. I try not to go above 35k key word is tryOriginally posted by bagedtaco View Postsmaller?! ok...
what kv 1518?
so the smaller the kv the more ideal it is to run higher (S) on? i kno that can't be a blanket statement, but as a beginer guide
.
Rpm = kv x voltage.

And a 1518 on 4S, you could swing a really large prop to gain more speed if you wanted...they run super cool and reliable on 4SGo Brushless or GO HOME

understanding things much better now.The aq motor is a 4s motor its the ul1 motor and it's to small for a apparition, use the aq motor in the bj on 42x55 or use that 1512 1800kv on a m445 on that bj either one would work nicely.Originally posted by bagedtaco View Posti've got a AQ 36-56 2030kv i'm gonna try in the apparition on 3s and maybe 4s. to bad there is no way to run 3.5s!! haha

Regardless of whether or not its the perfect choice, that boat should absolutely fly on 4s with that 1512/2650kv. Its probably going to be too much current draw for a 120A esc, but it should be WAY faster than the stock motor. You have something dead wrong. Either the esc is incorrectly programmed, the throttle is not properly calibrated, or you have faulty parts. It should haul but with that motor.
