I just ordered a 1527 to run on 8S in my DF33 hull. I plan to use a 50mm 3 blade prop. Is that motor to much for this hull? I don't think it will hurt anything but I may have spent more than needed is all. I could likely run a bit larger 2 blade prop if the torque does not start to mess with the boat but this is my initial setup. Will be ok???
1527 in a DF33 to much?

The boat will spin around the motor.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.

Last one had a `1521 that seemed to just not be right. ESC's dont seem to get along with the "D" wind motors. I had timing low and everything running a 48mm prop and I steamed some caps. This being a "Y" wind and running a high volt low amp setup would be a bit more mild.

My only experience was with a 1527 1.5d in a 34" cat. It did everything I asked and then some. It literally rolled the boat up out of the water on heavy acceleration. (boat spinning around the motor hehe) Always ran cool.
I think you'll end up with a speed demon.

im running a 4082 / 1500kv on 6s , with a x648 with speeds around the 60mph in my DF 33 , i tried a 8s set up , just thought 8s was too much weight . i would go a 1521 1900kv on 6s- 5s and you will have a rocket ...Last edited by scoota; 11-08-2010, 12:17 AM.UL1- 1515 castle/neu / 240 swordfish

It's not too much if you want 3+ hp in a 33" boat.......................NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE:

1521 1.5D on 4S2P will get you in the mid 50s without to much effort, plus you will then have a" P" class mono and can race in that class if you choose too.
Its pretty much the standard motor for that class.Grand River Marine Modellers

I no longer race. Thats what my last one was for with 1521. Speed goal is only 50. Will it hurt anything as in:under propped, causing amp draw too high? This way I can upgrade to df45 someday if I race againOriginally posted by Doby View Post1521 1.5D on 4S2P will get you in the mid 50s without to much effort, plus you will then have a" P" class mono and can race in that class if you choose too.

Rummy has said the if the motor isn't loaded it'll heat up. I hadn't experienced any heat troubles running about 60mph w/447 on 6s2p (35k rpm) so guess that was enough load.Originally posted by Boatman View PostI no longer race. I've seen similar - 32" Cyber Storm with same motor, 6S and I think it had a 450/3. It was awesome and handled really well. I still can't believe how well it went.Originally posted by DISAR View PostI ve seen a DF33 with a 1527 1y 6s, 447/3. boat was running fine
