Motor KV chart

Tony, just right click on the file, select "Save Target As" then at the top drop down box "Save in" select say "desktop". It will download. then go to your desktop and find the downloaded file. Right click and select "rename", Then backspace over the ".doc". This will change it to an *.xls file that you can open with excel.

Changing my major to Industrial Psychology, I entered Grad School in 1967 & the statistics lab had enormous mechanical calculators

Fighter- the motor kv chart would be sweeeet if we could pick beginning & ending kv, kv increment, and # of cells in a data area, then let the chart populate. This would allow maximum flexibility for all cell count applications even the 12s+.

I really like the chart approach to see the multiple kv and rpm's together.

Cool stuff.

Now integrate what sizes should be used with what voltage and physical motor size.

It boils down to determining HP requirements, converting it to watts, choosing the right amp/ESC and voltage of cells for that watt range and then charting the KV/RPM for the right KV to generate the correct run time RPM.

So what I need to know, is HP requirements by hull size for some popular hull types and then I can create some calculations!

Would be a pretty easy project to do in VB.
If I had a version that I could use with Vista I'd give it a go.
If you wanted to you could use a text based .dat file and actually add motors and esc then choose them from a drop down menu, have the option to add motors and esc,s as they arrive on the market.
Take about half an hour to do the front end then you'd have to write the .dat files for esc and motors.
Would be a new stand alone version of fecalc, no xls involved. Wouldn't need a spreadsheet package then.
Off for the last runs of the year probably!

Yeah, the xls is just to get the calculations started. Not exactly a development platform. =)

What would be ideal is an online db application. Like a .Net SQL app. I can write them, just don't know where to host them these days.

That way many people could add motor/esc data, like a group effort. Sorta like an FE Wiki. Heh... Wiki FE dia.

I have a copy of VS 05 and VS 08 if you want them, let me know.

LOL SQL my nemisis, Can code in C++ 8052 assembler, pic micro assembler, VB but never liked SQL enough to get really good with it.
The worst back the day was COBOL, they pushed that one hard when I was in school because of Y2K! Hated lining all that crap up or it just wouldn't work!
