Skywing 200a ESC

Hi guys

Having burnt my SV27 ESC recently I am in the market for a budget ESC.

I have found the this Skywing 200a ESC for about $45 (inc shipping)

Has anybody tried one of them?

Of course I don't expect it to perform like those much more expensive ones, but I am looking for a durable one that will last many years......

I have two of them. I have one in use. Seems to work fine on 4S. Not sure if it would really survive 6S although advertised to. Cheap ESC's have a habit of not living up to their higher end ratings. Can't go wrong for the price though! I just ordered two more.

I run the 150 amp version and really have had no problems. It has shut down on me a few times so I eleminated the BEC and run a pack but I think it needs to be taken apart and the cooling plate and fets checked for good contact. Over all...easy to program and seems to work well.

I just ordered one as well, for the price there's really nothing to lose. It will be running 4S as well.

Looks very similar to the Himodel 200amp one Just this one has watercooling....

I do mainly sport boating like once a month..... Do you guys thinks this will last say at last 2 years?

Asking any esc to last 2 years is a total crap shoot. The esc will last only as long as you don't overdo it and the components hold up. The only was to ensure 2 years is to spend a LOT more money and get a castle or schulze because they have replacement warranties. Outside of that, if you want to run for two years, buy 5 or 6 of these cheap controllers for the same price as ONE castle or schulze!

Schulze Esc.

I have a number of Schulze Esc. many of which are 8 yrs. old. They still work great.
Well worth the money, IMHO.

Is there a way to program timing ? Or, what is the default timing number ?

I used to run the 150A version...make sure to cut off the shrink wrap and then reseed the cooling plate with thermal grease, ensuring proper contact of all fets. Then throw some conformal coating on it

I don't recall an actual timing setting...but I do believe there is settings for ranges of pole motors...like 2-4 pole motors, 5-8, etc. Maybe someone can chime in or correct me

They come with easy to do instructions. They have all aspects of configuring.

Just received mine today from an auction won on July 17, shipped on the 19th and returned to seller (zone2you) damaged in shipping. Of course they were out of stock and had to wait for more. Now I see why it was damaged in shipping. Stuck in a 7" x 10" medium weight envelope with one wrap of small bubble wrap around it. Keep in mind it is in a flimsy plastic container with cardboard backing, and it's free floating inside the envelope. It's a wonder it arrived undamaged this time. Good esc, terrible packaging!

I have a 150A and a 200A, both running ok. Timing settings are 1, 7, 15, 30 degrees. The only issue I have is the start, a bit of a delay... not huge, but I felt it when we were doing a sort of drag race. The Aquastar 120 was much faster...

I got my new 200A skywing last week and noticed that the nipples were loose and the hole sizes were really small 1/16" I drilled them out to increase flow, tightened and sealed it up works great now on 4s. Smoked one of these on 6s in less than 2 min though.
