I was wondering if disabling the internal BEC and running an Rx pack would allow one to run a 1s pack (3.7v) on a Hydra 120...
Esc q for you knowledgeable guy

IF the esc is suitable for power down to 3.7 or 1S then you are deffo good to go as long as you run an Rx pack.
Some speedies will not run on a single Li cell but if the hydra can then you are good.
As an aside, wtf are you running with a single cell ?? a personal cooling fan ??
See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

LOL,
I have something that will run on 1s...
I guess I need to rephrase a bit...
Is the reason the Hydra is not rated for 1s it's internal BEC or is it something else?
The reason I thought about this is, I was sniffing around and found something they called a Booster module, it ups the voltage to the Rx so it can be fed it's required 4.8-6v to run itself and the servo(s)... so I thought, wait a sec, that's kinda what the external Rx pack does!
I would ask the folks over at CC but it takes them too long to answer me... =):::::::::::::::. It's NEVER fast enough! .:::::::::::::::

You could also run an external BEC to the receiver, cutting the red wire, thus disabling the onboard BEC in the controller.Mini Cat Racing USA

What's the AMP rating on that thing? Am I truly going blind? I can't find it anywhere on that page.

Nope. No can do Jan. The rx pack voltage does not power up the electronics that effect how the esc works. You need main battery power to do this. 1S in not enough volts to power the FET's to drive them. Andy might chime in since he is the expert. But I have already asked the very same question to Patrick at CC and the answer is no.Originally posted by Ub Hauled View PostI was wondering if disabling the internal BEC and running an Rx pack would allow one to run a 1s pack (3.7v) on a Hydra 120...

There are many 1s ESCs on the market. The BEcs in them (when supplied) step the voltage up for the Rx.
Anything from this,
to this.
I know Kinetic Racing sell some too.
All the best

Jan,
What are you doing fooling around with 1S! Why don't you just try it? unplug the red wire, hook up the controller and see what happens............

I have a feeling it will not work, but maybe worth a try. you will proably need to disable all LVC settings.
