the trick or treaters generally need to wear winter coats(and or rain coats) one year we had snow flurries for halloween. don't forget the earliest I figure on finishing any large 'cat' would be early december. ah the joys of wisconsin weather we have winter, winter, summer, winter :), otoh no bugs after the hard freeze.

Q for readywatts, on your MM build you mentioned mounting the motor at 9"...which points did you reference?

That was from the vertical part of the motor mount to the inside of the transom.

I suspected that those were your points of reference...but wasn't sure, could have been from the outside surface of the transom, or the midpoint of the motor etc. etc. kinda doubt that one needs milimeter precision when it comes to locating the fore-aft motor placement...but it is nice to have a guideline. thanks for the info.

yet another Q. this time what type of glue should I use to glue the motor mount, stuffing tube etc in place? standard 30 min epoxy? or something else?

I just used Devcon 2 - 5 minute epoxy that I get from Walmart on a Fiegao 14XL motor mount.

                On the KB45 10XL, I bolted the motor mount to a 3" X 6" - 1/8 plywood and epoxied it.

Rex, Doug P. has lots of scraps of carbon fiber and kevlar matt laying around. I recomend you get a few pieces and use them to reinforce your epoxy jobs.

Also, what motor are you using? Doug also has way to many lehners, you would be able to borrow them like I have to test and see what wind you want. He has all in the 1940 and 1950 range that we use. He is wanting to sell some also so consider if you want to step up a notch.

got an 9xl waiting to go in, with a hydra 120. methinks that it will be at least a little while before I get to the 'install the motor' stage :).

One thing. Clean any areaof the hull you intend to glue to very well. Reed Eagle said to me that he goes as far as using soap and water to wash down the whole inside of the hull before doing any work, than going over that with denatured alcohol. Because the release agent used in the molds is still present on the glass.
