So you use a wooden wedge under the aluminum to get the shaft angle?

No. The motor will be mounted flat to the hull the back supported to it does not go through the hull on waves.
I've also read and saw a small demo some place where it was suggested to give the flex shaft and "S" shape to spin better and take out wobbles, so by giving it an "S" I can light in up at the correct angle to the motor, which would be dead straight.
The guy who is helping with the build has all of his boats done that way and it works well for him, so I'm going that route.

Good to hear. I have a rigger set up that way that I have never run because everybody around here says the shaft will fail with the motor mounted flat and the shaft curving into the S curve of the stuffing box.
