Grease flexshaft on genesis question

I was told by the company that i bought my genesis from that you need to marine grease the shaft
To just spray Teflon spray up in the shaft is that true ?

I dont know if it is true, but, I changed my shaft and strut. I didnt like the 4mm square shaft, so I put in a .150 to 3/16 flex cable and 3/16 speedmaster strut. I also greased it with grim racer speed grease.....

I havent ran the boat yet, but I grease my shafts each time I go out and run them.

Where did you purchase the .150 to 3/16 flex cable and 3/16 speedmaster strut.

i changed the tubing on my genesis and uses .150 flex and the original strut that i drilled up to 3/16
i use a mix of marine grease and chain oil after every run.

I do use grease on my boats that have teflon liners for lubing + stopping water coming up the tube. But i believe teflon lined shafts are only supposed to have some light oil on the shaft. Thanks Martin.

I grease the flex and then run lightwieght oil down it (good 'ol 3+1 is fine)....teflon tubing in the stuffing tube or straight brass stuffing tube...does not matter which you use...this method works good for both.

I do the same and it has worked best for me....same with the prop shaft.

what type of grease? I have a genesis on the way with a .150 cable and 3/16 shaft.

I got 52 mph out of mine on 4s with a seaking 180 amp esc and x640 octura prop running the stock motor, really like mine alot for the straight line blasts....turning......sucks..... installed hatch locks and ran window sticky foam around hatch contact points in hull.....works pretty good.....good luck man on yours when you get her, i got the foam from waldo world, i dont like taping the hatches and it does keep water out pretty well, its not a tape seal by no means but helps

I know a lot have their own favourite greases & oils etc, A good waterproof grease that some use is Aquacraft Speed Grease. Thanks Martin.

what kinda hatch locks did you use and were did you get them ?

got them from kentic racing,there in the area where the geico upgrades are

Thats what im using also....smells like c/v joint grease used on cars.....only reason i say that is ive been in automotive for 25 years....so its good stuff and a tub for 4 bucks will last ya a life time
