to me it looks like a sprintcat .40 with a modified hatch i.e. they cut off the turbo tunnel in the back and they cut off part of the nose (windsheild) in the front...it looks fuggly

The cat most likely is a SprintCat40 with the classic hatch. Remember this was running as a nitro boat, the back of the hatch was cut out for the pipe and a scoop was added on. See below.

I wonder how serious he was with the 540 brushed motor - he made a mount but did he ever try to run it? Actually not a bad deal for <$80 but no one bought it.

Its a cheap chi hull. Glad to see no one here bid on it. Might not be junk but its not a USA hull.
