    Munich SAW 2025

Well, attended the SAW event over in Munich this past week, great experience.

Weather was a little poor, however we made do with plenty of lights.

I will upload some pics / videos as time permits over the next week. I Didn't manage to get as many as I'd hoped whilst preparing my boats for running / weather but what I have I will post

For me, 190km/h in L12 cat and unfortunately my big boat made a 193km/h pass on 12s with peddling the throttle twice, and return leg crashed (would of been much higher) a lack of spare rudder at this point ended the event for this boat with a storm coming in that was that. I will try and get a 14s GPS pass in sometime in November.

I must say watching a twin cat do 260k/h / 160+mph was incredible.

    Few pics to start,

Have been struggling to access the website.

Water never really materialised for riggers, we ran after darkness with lots of lights... I now have my L6 rigger, a identical hull performed at 265km/h so I am excited to get started on mine...

This is how most of the high speed runs went down.

That's my truck using its 28,000 lumen roof rack mounted LED and also the Abar a smaller 8000 lumen led bar.

How did you get it? Can it be purchased?

Unfortunately they are not available to the public, I would suggest attending the SAW and building up a relationship with the guys there, all are super helpful

I can possibly help answer some questions on it for you, here's mine

A friend I have known for 3-4 years sold me his, he has a L4 and L10 option and I think I've bought 5 boats from him now over the years.

              Looks really cool!

I'm building a similar SAW-rigger and primarily interested in the sponsons angle (I'm planning 4 degrees) and the finished boat's center of gravity.

I'd also suggest you create a separate post with detailed photos (bottom, bilge, servo system, etc.). There's very little information about these kinds of speed riggers online.

Hello Ivan, There is very little information available on SAW riggers and that's not by coincidence. There is a very high level of risk running model boats at these speeds in particular to the spectators. Those of us who design and actively work on the SAW riggers tend to shy away from divulging the know how in till we a comfort that you are skilled to build and run a boat with such speeds. This is also why you rarely find SAW riggers for sale in the general forums. The designers/builders want to make sure the next owners are appropriately skilled and safe to run. As Liam mentioned you generally need to build trust with the groups of racers who actively participate in SAW events. Information, special hardware and speed secrets tend to be shared much more readily with in good relationships and in private IM's instead of online.

I would suggest you start your own thread and ask questions to the group. We will answer what we can and you will find we may not answer certain questions like what sponson ride pad width and angle of attack. These are the speed secrets we keep to ourselves and do not share. Hopefully this does not dissuade you from building your SAW riggers, but explains why there is a lack of information and very few SAW riggers for sale.

                  Ivan,

Another thing Tyler didn't fully stress is the silent calm, almost stoic demeaner International SAW participants demonstrate when a World Record is set; almost the perfect definition of "quietude" ..

Yes, I understand the competitive nature of these boats. Even this photos and videos from YouTube helped me a lot in designing my SAW rigger.

My personal best is currently 172 km/h, but I know the feeling :)
Wish me 200 km/h next season!
