Non-shorting parallel batt. harness tip

After creating some scary sparks/shorts hooking up the lipos to the parallel harness [ when the first batt is hooked up, the other leads are "hot" & yes I'm fumblefingered], I took some automotive sparkplug wire separators & came up with this to keep the leads from each other. Simple & safe.

To me a better idea is to polarize the plugs - that way no mistakes. Plug in a LiPo pack backwards and syonara. This harness does not allow wrong polarity or accidental shorting.

Fluid do you make the y harness or is it available somewhere?

Guys should I not be using deans anymore? All I see used on most high end power systems are bullets

I would say that since your are running over 80amp set ups that you should start to change over to bullet plugs.

Deans plugs can start to overheat by 60+ amps - but their biggest problem is wear and oxidation of the contacts which increases resistance even more. For most BL applications the 5.5 mm gold plugs are far better....but they are not as convenient as the polarized Deans plug. The small harnesses in my previous post are not commercially available, but they are not difficult to make. I used the 5.5 plugs and some 12 gauge wire covered in shrink tubing. Note that they are polarized so no costly mistakes by accidently reversing polarity.

Dooz, no damage to the batt's, only to my nerves ! Jay, I agree your solution is more foolproof , problem is I can't mooch batteries from the guys with non-polarized plugs Tom, Steven sells the 5.5's in bulk. I remember the day not too long ago when I made the transition from tamiya's to deans, what a long day that was ! With the calibre of your builds, the switch to bullets is the way to go; be patient & have lots of solder ! :)

Took your advice today and switched all my 6mm plugs so they are polarized and there is no easy way to short them out now, thanks
