Tunnel hull & radio ?

I would like to know has anyone ever ran a tunnel hull on fm, & run the antenna under the canopy with out issue ?. I would like to not drill a hole in my custom painted canopy if i did not have to . Back in the early 90's we ran pan car's with the am frequency & the antenna under the body .

Which 2.4 system spektrum or tactic ?.

I used to do it on my 3.5 and 7.5 nitro tunnels but canopy can not be made of carbonfiber. all so a range it.

The canopy on the VS-1 is abs plastic. Do you think it will affect the range at all running a FM anttena at full length under the canopy ?.

I still run FM and use dual conversion Rx's. Yes I am old and tight and have not really embraced 2.4 properly. My rescue boat is 2.4 though.

To get the best out of FM with a fast hull I would suggest running and external antenna. You may get away with running it internally, I would not.

From here your options are fairly basic. Either go with the 2.4 or run the wire to the outside, it is a very small hole and you could even tape the wire to the canopy of the tunnel. If that is too unsightly then you have only two avenues left.
2.4G or try it internally fitted and take the risk to try it. A fail-safe on the ESC would be a good idea if you choose the latter.

I was a late comer from AM to FM and am now dabbling with 2.4. Coin reasons !!

Some of the 1/8 scale guys run them inside. you have to range it and a fail safe is always a good thing

I have a nitro tunnel that I use the Spektrum Marine receiver in. The short antenna I have upright under the cowl and the other antenna length wise under the cowl.

I haven't had any issues so far
