Question on bullet connectors

I use 5.5mm bullets and found some 3/8 inch "screw protectors" that fit nicely on the female connector as protective caps.

Good points by everyone. The main reason I install bullets the way I do is for the reason mentioned by Blackcat26. Another benefit is that Turnigy packs have their packs wired that way. I also make protective caps for the bullets out of heat shrink tubing whether male or female.

Everyone has their own way and that's cool.

Yes!!! Also, put the female bullets on the positive lead from the battery and males on the negative.

That seems like the normal practice for everyone. I have to go against the tide and run females on pos and neg. Then if I need to run a pack in series I have made up some back to back male bullets that I use as a jumper.

I press a short (5/8" or so) piece of clear tubing that I get at the hardware store over the entire Female connector. This ensures it never gets touched by anything.

Using the female connector on the positive, leaves less connector exposed to decrease the chances of shorting out on something.

Sorry, I was referring to why the male on the neg vs. putting the male on the pos and female on the neg... I'm assuming this is just convention? I have mine wired the other way around...

Yes!!! Also, put the female bullets on the positive lead from the battery and males on the negative. Use red and black shrink wrap to help prevent accidental shorts. I used to use black only and every once in a while, I would grab the wrong wire if I was in a hurry. Since I started using the red on the positive wires, I've never done it.

Should I shrink wrap entirely over the female end of the bullet connector to prevent shorts if other connectors would touch?
