I just snug up the prop so there is not a lot of slop between the prop and dog. and usually i check ever so often to make sure it is not loose. use a plastic inserted lock-nut.

unless you have reverse it only needs to be there to stop the prop falling of as it doesnt take any load,on my hyperformance lower leg it has a piece of fuel line then a nut with very little pressure from the nut,some guys only use a piece of fuel line no nut

The statement above is true.........no need to put the gorilla grip on the prop nut. Just make sure its snug

I have done that myself and it does work well when the dog fits tightly into the prop. But if there is any slop or looseness it will spin off. I am a living testament to that lesson. And in front of a bunch of racers a couple years ago. Was showing off a new build with Darin, Brian, Jim and the PSFE club all looking. Boat ran out great, did half a lap and I let off the throttle coming into a turn. Then it lost speed and went dead? I thought what the? Rescue boat went out, brought my pride back in. Bare flex shaft. Prop and fuel tubing gone. I have never ran a flex without a lock nut since.

i haven't tried just fuel tube myself,not game lol just remember seeing a few threads were guys said they had trouble with nuts and now just run the fuel tube and haven't lost a prop.
if we had left hand threads on the prop shaft we probably wouldn't have any trouble at all keeping nuts on.
