Torque roll?

WHAT IS TORQUE ROLL AND IS MY BOAT DOING IT?..MY CYBERSTORM IS ALMOST DIALED IN BUT I HAVE ONE HANDLING CHARACTERISTIC THAT IT DO NOT LIKE...AT FULL TO NEAR FULL THROTTLE AROUND 47-50MPH THE HULL DESIDES TO PLOW DOWN TO THE LEFT ALMOST DOING A SIDE WHEELIE OR SOMETHING...IT DOES NOT HOP BACK AND FORTH JUST DOWN TO THE LEFT THE HULL IS WELL BALANCED IN THE LOW 40S AND TURNS AWESOME...WHEN I LIFT MY DRIVE HIGHER IT CURES IT BUT THEN I AM AIRED OUT TOO MUCH AND ITS TOO LOOSE..THERE IS SOME MORE SPEED TO BE HAD IF I CAN CURE THIS...ANY IDEAS?

My BBY OM29 used to roll to the right. I had almost all my running gear on the left plus some weight to make it run flat. But coudn't get rid of the infamous wobble. Try moving some of your running gear to the other side and see if it makes any difference.

The right? That's wierd. Usually the prop will makeit bank to the right side. Try bending the trim tab down a bit on the side of the roll. That is, if you are running trim tabs. What size is the prop?

If your refering to me then yes it would roll to the right (starboard). It lifts the left (port) side up. Its the common way for a counter clockwise spinning prop. His is going to the left

OOps, sorry, I meant to say the left. You are correct.

could this be just the opposite? Is the motor torquing the boat over? What motor, prop, and cell count is in that hull?

EDIT: Also, have you verified your rudder is still straight both mounted and not bent? If you are running turn fins try taking one off at a time to see if that helps since you are going for so much speed you may loose some handling anyways. I loved mine but it never got above 50mph.

Heres thinking outside of the box. Could your rudder being bent by the forces of water. Or maybe its overcomming the steering ( servo, push rod, etc.) or something as simple as rumdog said try giving a little more trim.

I am running an m645 prop with an neu 1521 1y 1577kv on 6s lipo....i do not have trim tabs on it...i have a great hitec 7954sh servo...the rudder i chose on ose was too big for this boat and could be where i ran into the rolling..i did trim 1 inch off of it though and still have the roll..i am going out again tonight i will try trimming up a touch and see what happens thanks guys for your help

Oh yeah the rudder is the dual pickup speed master for 38" hulls and larger by accident trimmed 1 inch

I have never seen it happen but also many say as you trim the rudder make sure to put a radius on the bottom to keep it from becoming a planing surface.

well i got some better results on my evening runs..i raised my stinger 3/4 of a turn and it did make a reasonable difference..i had some nice flat water to work with too..got 50mph on 5s and 56 mph on 6s1p..now the boat is chine walking a little but for the most part it handles great..if i fool around with different battery positions and weight i think it will turn out great..i have a little room to prop up too if i want to..thanks for the help guys..i will attempt to post a vid of it..i need to watch it and see if its worth posting

here i go again with my boat pulling downward to the left voilently...this time its with my new df 45 or 35 inch hull..no trim tabs yet..the hull starts to do it at 40 mph..i tried many short runs with tweaking of the drive and rudder positions with no success..its a castle 1717 with no cooling yet so i was limited to 1 minute runs..the boat handles great up until 3/4 throttle when it pulls down hard..i have the speed master 21 rudder and 3/16 speedmaster drive. i tried two props m645 and m447 three blade..here are the pics...notice anything weird????do i need tabs or trim the drive back or different rudder..i

It may just be the pics but the rudder looks like it slightly bent. At the speeds you are going for the slightest bit will be dramatic. If it's not and it is just the pics then I have no clue and really have no idea but am very interested why the boat would slam to the left and not the right as normal torque roll would be.

Heres something I thought of. When my DF would torque roll it would seem to slam on its left side but was actually hooking to the right. Perhaps is this what is happening and or what does it do when it leans to the left? Does it still go straight or does it hook? If it hooks and I bet it does, you need to shorten your strut or extend your rudder back so the front of the rudder is even at least with the front edge of the prop. I bet a bunch of money that will fix your probs. I had a machinest make a extension and it fixed everything.

Yep, thats it. Your rudder is way to far forward of your prop.

i think its just the pics..it has to be something i am doing because its the second boat i have that is doing it..
