I hear ya. Did you say youd mainly be running in open water suseptable to chop? The reason I ask is, Im sure the Gen will take a little bit more than the App. BUT, although the Gen is a beautiful, beautiful boat, Im a little curious as to how well its going to run on 3S. And I think of it like this as well, a 41 inch boat doing 30 is not as impressive as a 32" boat doing 30. If your just getting back into boats and want something that is going to give you some excitement, you may want to go w/ the Apparition or HOTR hull. Besides, upgrading an App. your going to find to be a little easier on the wallet then upgrading the Gen if need be.. and lets face it, your going to want it to move out! But if speed isnt a real factor for a while, that Gen is a very nice looking boat. Its a tough call... Also, the App is a proven boat. MANY people run it and have a lot of luck w/ it. the Gen may come out to be not such a good boat, or it may be decent or even great. Its a gamble.

Im just looking at the specs on the Genisis..
Spec.
Length: 1045mm
Width: 245mm
Height: 115mm
Weight : 2.5kg
Motor: 36-74Size 2075kv Watercooled Brushless Inrunner
ESC: 105A watercooled
Drive system: 4mm
That motor is basically an 8XL. Many folks on here are running 8Xls on 4S in there 32" cats... Im one of them. Speeds are low/ mid 40s. If I were to order a Genisis, Id run it 4S and order one of the Turnigy Marine 180A esc's to put in it. You might get lucky and get 40 or real close out of it. I just dont think 3S is going to get it done. May be some dissapointment....

No, hobby King has never had them in stock. But a lot of people have the same boat from HOTR. Im sure someone has bought the RTR version. But it seems most are running it as I said above w/ an 8XL and a compatible ESC on 4SOriginally posted by wingnut View Postya i was thinking that the other day about the apparition. has there been anybody on here with one they got from hobbyking?
the Gen really needs to be a twin boat. Im sure that what Daggers will be doing.. or I will be doing, when he gets his.

I think the App would be a good RTR. But like I said. Id throw another 80.00 at the Genisis for the 180A esc and swap that out and run 4S. It would be a much better boat IMO.Originally posted by wingnut View Posti was kinda looking for something i could throw a rx in and go. and for the money it looks like a good deal. if i bought a hull and hardware and motor etc .... it would probably end up about 5 bills .

No, that motor will pull more than 105A on 4S.

It may have a different motor. Im not positive who actually builds that hull, wether its HOTR or someone else ( I think the latter) but several companies "do it up" thier way and sell it RTR.Originally posted by wingnut View Postthe ebay app looks like it has a different motor? what kind of speed do you think i would get out of that boat on 3s?
Id guess once properly tuned, low to mid 30s.????
Heres my HOTR hull, same as the App. I just finished painting today and am working on decals. So far I really like this hull and the way it performs. Not bad for a "scale kitty"Attached Files
