If a ESC has reverse like the castle 240, is the reversing done in the ESC? I always though to reverse a brushless motor you would reverse any 2 of the 3 leads like a 3 phase motor. These new ESC's dont seem large enough to have that function or is it some play on words indicating its reversable.

There are certain speedos that indeed have a reverse function, most being car speedos. Boats dont really need it. Physicaly changing the wiring or reversing the "phases" or legs is different that rotational reversing. Its a software selection/ setup choice when setting up the speedo that has that option available.Originally posted by 4Speed View PostIf a ESC has reverse like the castle 240, is the reversing done in the ESC? Castle 240 has reverse function and all other marine castle ESCs do.Originally posted by 4Speed View PostIf a ESC has reverse like the castle 240, is the reversing done in the ESC? It is software adjustable. You can have it on or off and so on. No need to swich motor cables to have it on.

Agreed. I am running a castle 120 HV and it does have the ability to set up reverse. I have used it several times to save me from the banks of the river when something has gone wrong etc. It works great in a pinch. You can configure the reverse feature to be on or off and also set what percentage you want it to be. The default is 25% throttle on reverse.
Basically just works like any car ESC with reverse...
