Hi guy's and gal's, doing a slight rebuild of my Raptor and want to go with a 1415 1.5D motor these are 36.5mm diameter the Fiegao are 35.8mm. I do not think the oring on my cooling jacket from the fiegao will handle being squashed the extra .7mm. Any idea's ??

should go on with a little lube, or do you have a bearing shop in town they usually have a huge range of o rings

Got plenty of lube mate!! Seriously though the orings on the black cooling jackets are a very thin cross section already, I doubt if I can get the same OD with a .3mm thinner section. I think it will squeeze on but need to get the motor first. Just thought I would ask if any one has one cooled up ready to tell how they went.

according to OSE website, the Feigao 540 jacket will also fit the 1415

Those 1415 Neu's are a good deal for the money. What I would do to adapt a water jacket is find something that will fit inside the jacket, piece of PVC pipe/ tool socket/ wooden dowel, etc and wrap some sand paper around it. Slide it inside and get busy. Once you cut down the inner diameter enough, seal the edges with silicone /RTV sealant. Only thing I dont like about the 1415's is the end bells have no openings to allow convection cooling but for $169 it would be worth it and size the motor conservatively so heat buildup was not a problem.Originally posted by andym View PostHi guy's and gal's, doing a slight rebuild of my Raptor and want to go with a 1415 1.5D motor these are 36.5mm diameter the Fiegao are 35.8mm. The ose jackets with the thin o-rings will not fit the neu 1415.
This ham jacket with the larger o-rings fits.

I'm running a 1409/1.5D in my N2 sport boat. It runs STRONG for a small motor. I got the feigao style jacket on but it was seriously tight.
That 1415/1.5D in the Raptor is going to be scary.
That's the same kV I ran in my old P hydro to a 22.05 second 2 lap record a couple years ago. That boat didn't handle anywhere near as well as a raptor does.
I'd probably start with an H-4 cut to 40mm and back cut .090" at the hub. I'll be a beast. A bone stock ABC 1616 wouldn't be bad either.Brian "Snowman" Buaas

Brian I can only agree but what fun!! No seriously this is the best handling rigger I have ever had, have moved CG back to 40% of after plane and even on a rough pond at near 65mph it runs true as an arrow !! I can see no reason why this could not go into the 70's in race trim. I know everyone is JAE mad at the moment and mine was built from plans not the kit but the Raptor is a stronger and better behaved boat in my opinion, not that that is worth much !!That 1415/1.5D in the Raptor is going to be scary.

The JAE is a very different boat from the Raptor. They definitely fit different markets. I'm glad the JAE is available, I couldn't deliver 100's of boat kits in only a couple months. It's getting more people racing riggers and it is a very capable boat.
The Raptor is more than capable of running in the 70's.Brian "Snowman" Buaas

www.HRC-MFG.com makes the UL-1 jacket that OSE sells. He can make you a custom version with your choice of water inlet/outlet locations.
How about a Nue 1412 1Y (2750kv) powered by 3s. Wouldn't the smaller Y version pull less amps?
