    Another Ebay Boat, Any Different?

    here is the boat:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/New-RC-2CH-Elect...item439dab80c8

this looks good to the uninitiated eye. any experienced builders or owners like to offer an opinion? i know that, so far, these good looking ebay type boats are not considered good deals, but eventually....

    thanks.

Looks pretty decent..............nice clean setup inside, motor mount cooling too. Doesnt have a rudder in the pics.............says its included. Looks like a 2.4 ghz radio. I think they are mistakenly showing the KV as the motor size ...........3660 = 36x60m?? Seems like they get the kv's messed up alot..............could possibly be right, but i dont think it is............

That boat has been around a couple of years. I think the previous poster is probably right about confusing the motor size with the KV. 3660 would be too high a KV. The motor is made by FDS. Just an average runner without a real long lifespan. Nobody retails them in the US that I am aware of.

One company makes that hull and sells them to a BUNCH of resellers in Hong Kong. They usually install their choice of motor, esc, radio, etc. None of it really top of the line. The hull is very pretty. THAT is what sells it. They don't spend much money on the guts! If you could get the hull only and put your own motor, esc, etc. in it, then you'd have a really good boat.

The best part is that the hull actually runs pretty good.

The fact that the description calls it a Hydroplane is also a bit worrying. it's definitely a Cat.
I've got one myself & it does run well with an 8Xl on 4s lipo.
They also sell it with a twin setup. but the claim of 100kmh is a bit hard to believe. The motors are only little 380 size at only 1620Kv on 3s 2200mah recommended packs.

Read through this thread for some good oil on the Apparition. There's a video of mine on the fly in there somewhere.

the ESC isn't watercooled - probably a real cheepo. At least they put a balloon over the radio :)

looks like a mystery 80a esc, another problem is the woods not sealed properly either.

Actually, if you look real close you can see that the esc IS water cooled. They don't give you any programming instructions for those esc's either!

Sure enough..............cooled thru the esc, then mount, then jacket...........

I didn't see any nipples on the ESC and if you count the water lines it sure doesn't look to be watercooled, It could be a bad angle...

OK.... so I grabbed the originals from them and blew them up real big with gimp.... it looks like they are watercooled and my old eyes were playing tricks on me.
