Maybe Firefox canard project???

I was thinking about building a Firefox canard and putting in a small nitro motor
(.21) don't know if it will fit and I can't tell by only looking at pictures on the web.
I have no idea about the hull size where the engine would be mounted and if the
hull would hold the motor. I'm always up for a good project! Can anyone help with my questions? I email the web store selling the hull but got no answer back.

I say go for it Chuck.
Here's what Eddie Mathews did to one some time ago. Turned it into the SR71 Blackbird.
I've often thought of trying one but other things seem to get in the way.

Thanks Paul for the web link. I wish I new German! If I only knew how wide the hull is so just to make sure I could fit in four inch rails for mounting the motor mount. That part maybe tight! Mavbe someone else will chime in and help me with that question. Pretty hard just by looking at pictures. Also looks like beefing up inside with plywood to mount the struct and some carbon fiber on the floor. Still thinking and looking!

Inside dimensions would greatly help. Wide and height of inside hull w/canopy on! I called
and emailed Finedesginerc but get no answer back. What a way to do business! Very poor
in my book!

Thanks but that will not help. I need measurements so I know if the engine will fit inside the hull. I would have to glass in rails to mount the engine mount and motor mounts only come in sizes 3..4..5 inches wide. Also the measurement from the floor of the hull to the bottom side of the canopy.. the depth. If the hull is too shallow it would look stuipd. This is why I need measurements. Two measurements.. wide and depth than I could order the hull and start building.

Hi chuck.
If you go back to that German link I posted there's a translate button at the top right corner. It automatically comes up in my Google bar.
That first motor in the pics is a 700 brushed, I believe, & a 36mm brushless with water jacket is slightly narrower than that.
These mounts are only 2" wide & fit the 36mm motors.

What size motor were you thinking of installing?
As you can see from the other pictures posted by Fluid, the motors fit quite easily.

there are alot of motormounts which don`t need rails, we in europe nearly never use rails.

I have a K&B 3.5 rear exhaust that I was thinking about using if it would fit but that's pending now and I have no idea what is the CG on the hull. If that's a two inch mount I don't think this is going to work. How tall is that mount to the center point? People in Europe don't use rails for mounting nitro engines in Europe, what do they use? Maybe I'll learn something new!

Hope the following pictures help. I bought one of these several years ago and used a wide variety of brushless motors in it with an assortment of drives including a titanium wire drive. I also tried twin brushless EDF's and that was a real kick. All just experimenting and trying to better understand how to spend lots of money in a short period of time........ (just kidding!)

I do have the hull but with the custom black cowl I fabricated. Hull is very well made and the fiberglass work is excellent. German crafts men are excellent and exceed at everything they do, possibly with the exception of World Wars. Somehow the original yellow cowl took a vacation and I cannot locate it.

If you need any specific measurements, just let me know. I took some of the pics with a 12 inch stainless rule so you can scale from that.

Yes those pictures did help me.. thank you! Could you measure from the flat were the cowl goes on to the floor of the hull so I can get a idea how deep the hull or engine compartment
is?

51 mm from the lip of the top flat for the cowl mounting to the inside base of the hull.

58 mm height of the transom.

94 mm width of the transom.

Sorry Chuck didn´t know that you wanteg to supplie a Nitro,but also for the Nitro there are mounts so that you don`t need rails.
