well remember its a 1/10 car that they claim has a top speed of 50 mph for up to 60 minutes. remember not long ago lipos didnt have a very large c rating but as demand became stronger lipos got better

Good to see an actual working proto instead of a bunch of hot air.

It's still hot air. Read carefully. They have a 4Ah battery pack in the car. The fuel cell can only provide 30W, so it's slow-charging the LiPo. It's a charger, not the primary source.

Fuel cells take a while to come up to power, and are better for constant loads. They don't do well with high transients like a model application is.

What these guys did is a perfect application for fuel cells - low rate charging w/o having to unplug your pack.

Looks like it runs at 8 volts and 3.75 amps (30 watts) without battery assist. Dont think its ready for FE.

I think this has potential. Don't let the bad comments stir you. I remember when I first posted about these cheap chinese batteries... http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ead.php?t=9394

Look at what people have to say now...

hey dom i remember that first thread you linked to very well, read what the guy from post #12 has to say

wolf it wasnt that, no were did i say throw away your lipos and lets go hydro
didnt say it was for fe just for boats, but some decided they would jump on the "its no good for FE " wagon.
no it isnt applicable yet for fe, but the possibilities are there for the future.
how nice would it be to have a 60 inch cat that could run at 70 mph for 60 minutes
methanol cells are another possibility in the future if the demand is there.
how many people wouldnt touch lipos when they first came out as the C ratings were very low, now because of demand we have cells that can deliver huge amps
