Venom King of Shaves RTR...

The King of Shaves boat has kinda caught my eye since i'm looking into getting a cat. I have a couple questions for anyone that might have experience with the Venom boat.

1. Being a twin motor, twin ESC set-up, what kind of run times can be expected with, say, two 5000mah NIMH's 6 cells (completely stock set-up)?? Would the run times be significantly shorter than a single motor/ESC set-up?

2. It's not available with Deans connectors for the batts., (dumb question alert) i could just cut the stock wires/connectors and replace them with Deans right? (all i have are Deans plug batteries)

3. Is overall quality of the boat and electronics pretty good?

I'm still considering building a Jolly Cat single, i just want to weigh out my options before i pull the trigger on a hull or an RTR. Thanks!

This is boat is my favorite - that said Fluid helped me chose the running gear on my MM & for shear fun the MM is good too! Less money involved in the MM so I'm less afraid of running it hard all the time! Not afraid of flipping it!

If you're looking to start with a bare hull, there are cheaper alternatives. I think the Venom EKOS bare hull is something like $190..
You wont get much run time on 6 cell NiMH. I usually get about 8-10 minutes out of my EKOS on 3S, and thats stretching it. I now run 5S and Im lucky if I get a 5 minute run time before the LiPo cutoff comes on.
Opinions are see-sawed on the boat. I loved mine stock. It ran 32mph on 3S, then 48mph on 3S with x442 prop upgrades, and the only problem I had was I lost a flex cable. Other people seem to be burning up motors quickly and the problem is Venom doesnt have a large quantity of replacements on hand. Being the motors are 380 sized, you're limited on aftermarket motors, but they are out there. I upgraded my mounts and motors to 540 sized and the boat ran awesome. The rest of the hardware is nice, anodized aluminum, adjustable struts.. Its a new boat, so some kinks will have to be worked out of it, but if you are already boat savvy, its a great boat to work with. Scale looks and speed are hard to find, but this boat has both

Hey thanks, i never would have saw King Of Shaves forums, i completely missed it lol! I see there is alot of love/hate with the boat, many have had problems, makes me a little warry about getting one. Great looking boat, but now i'm definatly leaining more towards building a Jolly Cat instead. Spring is still along ways away, got plenty of time to think about it!

I've been holding out for a large cat ATR, with a single motor/ESC and a fixed drive. I'm hoping this one will come out soon!

That thing is sweet!!! But thats getting a tad to big for what i'm looking for, plus i'm sticking with (old tech i know) NIMH's, if i can figure out a good 35+ MPH set-up on NIMH's with the Jolly Cat single i'd be happy.

Hmmmm, i have an SV27 and i love it!! Maybe i'll just have to wait and see what this new Aquacraft Cat is all about...
