I am looking for batteries to run in my Titan 29 running a 70mm 2000KV Medusa on 4s, I am going to start with a CF45 prop and go from there. I was looking at getting a pair of 4s 4000 mAH 40C Turnigy lipos from HobbyCity and running them in parallel but I have no idea how heavy I can go before performance starts to suffer. I run in mostly calm water, so extra weight to hold it down in the chop isn't a big deal but I hate recovering boats so I want it to be stable. I would like to go as big as I can for the best run times but don't want to drag around too much weight. Any thoughts or recommendations on batteries?

Those batts would rock! Don't worry about the weight, you'll want a lil weight in her to keep her stable. If you are sport running, you could give 5s a whirl too, just prop down and watch temps! -
OK, thanks for the advice! 8000 mAH 40C lipo would be awesome for run times. 5s puts me at about 37,000 RPM with that motor, that would be a blast but I think I should learn to drive and tune it on 4s before stepping up to nutso speed. As long as I'm getting 35-40 MPH out of it I think I'll be fine. I may run my 2 2s 8000 mAH Maxamps lipos in series at first until they die (they're Maxamps packs with 60-70 cycles already on them, they surely won't last boating abuse very long) then decide if I want to run 4s or 5s.
The big issue with 5s is heat, but with a Medusa motor on it's own water cooling circuit and my Etti 150A on an independant circuit I should have some headroom for props. I'm still new to boating, I've got lots of experimenting to do come Spring

I got upper 30s with a pair of 4S, 25+C elite 4800 mah packs in parallel with significant run times and no heat. With calm water you can air it out significantly and not be bothered with extra weight/drag issues. You gonna love this baby!"Look good doin' it"

We should look into building ice racers, either wind powered or have little pusher props on them and race across the ponds with them.
I'm a little apprehensive about running boats in a river...too many things can go wrong and cause me to lose it. I have pretty bad luck so far with boats, I'd rather not take my chances. Maybe I'll take a few laps around the hot tub.Comment

Spy, a 540 9XL 1898KV on 4s, with a x442 will get you 40+ easily, that Medusa will push that hull easily 40+ on the same prop.Comment
