Oil for a wire drive?

Is it necessary to oil the wire in a wire drive after every run?

You really don't have to oil the wire for every run. Maybe if you were running many times in a day you may want to pull it out and oil or grease the wire and stub once anyway. Always when you are done for the day pull it out and dry the shaft off and coat with oil. Nice to hear of another Iowa boater.Not many of us around. n.h.schmidt

I dont run grease or oil on my wire I just use a little water proof grease on the prop shaft and strut. I pullit after the day is over and wipe it off. but I did take 2000 grit sand paper and polished it and the prop shaft.

make a autoluber.
just get a little bottle on top of the stuffing tube and fill it with oil and it will be gravity fed when ever you need oil.

I remember seeing them on one of the gas guys sites. Search them.

I use a long piece of fuel tubing filled with oil on my synron to autofill the prop shaft. It works rather well.
