Anyone have Kyosho Wavemaster converted to brushless

Anyone have a Wavemaster converted to brushless? If so did you use the original outboard that came with it? I was going to convert the outboard on mine to brushless but not sure if it would handle it.

I don't have the wavemaster, but I do have an MRP Tunnel Hull. It is a very similar boat, a competitor of sorts.

There are tons of websites devoted to upgrading the wavemaster to a 30+ mph beast. tips from those sites should be followed.

based on that info, I think the dolphin outboard should be able to handle speeds up to 30 mph or so. With my MRP, I wanted to break 40mph. around 32-35mph, I started having issues with the flex cable snapping.

I finally broke down and replaced the MRP outboard with the Aquacraft EP1.

    it works much better:
2009-10-09, run number two, MRP tunnel hull with Aquacraft EP1 outboard, CC Hydra 120 ESC, Feigao 540s 8s, 3 cell lipo, x432 prop. 43.4 mph, 123 amps max, 30? amps avg.

if you do go with the EP1, you will want to upgrade the bearings to higher RPM ones.

If you do plan on keeping the dolphin lower unit, you might check and see if the flex cables sold for K&B lower units are a larger diameter, but still fit in the dolphin, that might improve your chances of not snapping the cable...
